Full Job Description
Must be U.S. Citizen

Clearance Required: Secret

The Naval Research Laboratory conducts a wide range of research activities focused on the development of infrared imaging technologies and signal processing algorithms to enable the detection of missile threats targeting Naval aircraft as well as hypersonic threats targeting the battlegroup. Research is also focused on the development of a number of active countermeasures technologies for platform self-protection. Work will involve simulations of imaging sensor systems and associated digital signal processing algorithms.

Responsible for:
  • Developing and expanding numerical system simulations describing the engagement of threats with Naval platforms
  • Designing and developing threat detection and discrimination algorithms capable of being implemented in real-time hardware
  • Performing analysis/design of optics and sensors including explicit representation of atmospheric transmission effects
  • Analyzing data generated by real-time systems and/or digital models
  • Collecting field data using systems under development
Example Tasks:
  • Integration of System Models (e.g. Simulink, Executables, Scripts) into a comprehensive digital simulation of the system under development
  • Update/Create applications and scripts used for analysis of threat engagements
  • Analyze system/subsystem components to determine performance and performance optimization options based on analytical findings

Benefits:

Medical, Dental, & Vision Plan, short- and long-term disability, accidental death & dismemberment, 401K retirement & matching, Tuition assistance program, direct deposit, leave package and 11 paid federal holidays.

Salary:

The projected salary range for this position is $135,000- $165,000; however, this is not a guarantee of salary.Salary will be set based on experience and contractual requirements.
