Full Job Description
We are looking for a Mine Planner to join our team in Midlothian, TX. As a Mine Planner with Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials, you will be responsible for developing short- and long-term mine plans while coordinating land acquisition, permitting, reclamation, and regulatory compliance. This role works closely with operations, environmental teams, engineering, and external stakeholders to ensure reserves are optimized, land assets are protected, and mining activities align with business and regulatory objectives.

This position blends technical mine planning with practical land management experience and a strong understanding of permitting, zoning, and reclamation requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain short-term, mid-range, and life-of-mine plans for active and future mining operations.
  • Prepare reserve calculations, production schedules, and sequencing plans to support operational and financial goals.
  • Optimize pit layouts, haul roads, phases, and material flow to improve efficiency and safety.
  • Support annual budgets, capital planning, and long-range strategic planning.
  • Manage land assets related to mining operations, including owned, leased, and optioned properties.
  • Coordinate land acquisition, lease negotiations, easements, and access agreements.
  • Support permitting efforts, including zoning changes, conditional use permits, mining permits, and expansions.
  • Work with local, state, and federal agencies to maintain compliance with land-use and mining regulations.
  • Assist in public hearings, community meetings, and stakeholder communications related to land use and mining activities.

We Require:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Mine planning experience, with a strong emphasis on long-range planning, optimization, and strategic evaluation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in pit optimization, phase design, sequencing, and economic trade-off analysis.
  • Strong proficiency with modern mine planning and optimization tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Carlson).
  • Ability to think at both the technical and strategic level, connecting mine plans to capital decisions and long-term value creation.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence operating as a senior technical authority.
  • Experience working in fast-moving, project-driven or greenfield environments.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng or equivalent), or eligibility is preferred.

We offer:
  • A friendly and team-oriented work environment, with a supportive management team.
  • Hands-on training for our employees and opportunities for advancement.
  • A company dedicated to continuous improvement.
