Responsibilities

  • Analyze and resolve mechanical and electrical issues in plant equipment.
  • Apply machine and testing equipment to fix mechanical and hydraulic problems.
  • Operate and understand packaging equipment operations and repairs.
  • Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Perform various welding processes including arc and TIG welding.
  • Install and calibrate instrumentation and process controls.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks, both manually and using computer systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and proper use of safety equipment.
  • Calibrate and adjust plant weighing and printing equipment.
  • Fabricate simple machine parts as needed.

Full Job Description

TITLE:                             Millwright

LOCATION:                    Onsite in Scarborough, ON

SHIFT & HOURS:          Night Shift: Sunday to Thursday from 10:30pm to 6:30am

Hiring Hourly Rate:     $44.20 per hour (plus night shift premium)

Griffith Foods is hiring a Millwright to report to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager to work as part of a high-performing team to support the continuous and efficient production of a food manufacturing facility through preventative maintenance as well as responsive troubleshooting.

As a Millwright, your responsibilities will include:

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production equipment.
  • Use diagnostic tools and test equipment to identify equipment failures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and document work using manual and computerized maintenance systems.
  • Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, pneumatic schematics, technical drawings, and manuals.
  • Install, set up, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation and production control systems.
  • Adjust and calibrate weighing systems, metal detectors, printers, and labeling equipment.
  • Complete welding and basic machine fabrication work.
  • Support production and engineering teams while following all safety requirements.
  • Operate and perform basic repairs on packaging equipment and related materials.

Qualified candidates must have:

  • Specialized Millwright or Electrical Ticket training from a Trade certification program
    OR Manufacturing, Engineering or related education from a recognized Community College program.
  • 433A Canadian Millwright License or an Ontario 309A electrical construction & maintenance license
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently, including comprehension of instructions, correspondence, and memos, and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a food, food ingredient, beverage or liquids, pet food, pharmaceutical or specialty chemical production environment.

What will set you apart:

  • Multiple disciplines/Dual ticket training from a Trade certification.
  • 3 years of experience and/or training in a CFIA-regulated manufacturing environment.

Candidates must currently be at least 18 years of age AND possess unrestricted authorization to work in Canada. Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

This is a safety sensitive position, and it requires the use of an N9 NIOSH-approved fitted respirator (5) or an approved alternative. Successful candidates will be required to go through appropriate fit-testing and will be required to wear an N95 while performing their duties.
