JOB TITLE: Mill Electrical/Instrumentation Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Electrical Services

LOCATION: Robinson Nevada Mining Company - Ruth, NV

POSITION REPORTS TO: Mill E & I Superintendent

ROTATING SHIFT: Yes ◻ No ◼

EXEMPT ◼ NONEXEMPT ◻

PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

Under limited supervision, plan, organize, manage and evaluate assigned operations, including but not limited to, daily production, product quality, environmental management, safety, or maintenance. Supervise through electrical staff. Develop, plan, and coordinate the work plan for assigned projects and responsibilities, which may include project management, cost estimates and program development.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Follow safe work procedures and best practices.
  • Establish tactical and strategic goals, objectives, policies and procedures in assigned areas within the business.
  • Oversee and recommend the selection of key staff. Participate in the selection of staff.
  • Work with employees to correct deficiencies. Implement disciplinary procedures and recommend terminations. Investigate complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary.
  • Develop, plan, and coordinate the work plan for assigned projects and responsibilities, which may include project management, cost estimates and program development.
  • Coordinate work with other units and site departments.
  • Provide information and resources to site officials and other departments.
  • Evaluate infrastructure, facilities and operating systems for needed maintenance and repair.
  • Coordinate the activities of consultants and contractors.
  • Works on complex issues and implements solutions mostly through the determination of strategy and delegation to others in a group or functional area.
  • Works under limited supervision and has significant latitude to set objectives, priorities and timelines that may impact a group or functional area within the company.
  • Willingness to perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of KGHM.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
  • High School diploma or GED and seven (7) years related operational experience, including supervisory or management experience, or:
      • Skilled in supervising, evaluating, training and motivating employees.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, direct and manage a diverse number of operational areas, projects and activities.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Skilled in following safety practices, recognizing hazards and communicating effectively, both verbally and written.
  • Working knowledge of the NFPA70E and NEC regulations and MSHA surface codes.
  • Understanding of distributive control, programmable logic controllers and visual interfaces.
  • 15 Years of electrical field experience or similar equivalent experience in mining.
  • 5 Years of Project Management experience with electrical maintenance projects.
  • A valid driver's license.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, such as, variable frequency drives, protective relays, medium voltage drives, wound rotor motors and synchronous motors, high current rectifiers, transformers and switchgear, and power distribution systems.
  • Working knowledge of principles of electrical planning, scheduling and coordination.
  • Special Equipment/Computer Knowledge.
  • Skilled in Microsoft software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project.
  • PLC/DCS Programming and interpretation of programs.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Occasionally for training and development.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Direct E&I staff in daily operations. Inspect daily operations and projects in progress and upon completion to ensure quality of work.
  • Provide administrative and technical direction to staff; interpret policies and procedures established by regulatory agencies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Medium: Exerting 20 to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly. Physical demand requirements are greater than that required for Light Work.
