SUMMARYThis hands-on role is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and supporting both on-premises and cloud-based Microsoft technologies, including Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Azure, and Microsoft 365 services. The Microsoft Systems Engineer will lead the administration and strategic adoption of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft A5 security, compliance, and collaboration technologies. This position serves as the organization's Microsoft subject matter expert, providing technical guidance, and best practices to the infrastructure team while helping drive modernization, security, governance, and operational excellence across the enterprise.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Serve as the primary Microsoft platform subject matter expert for the organization.
- Design, administer, and support Active Directory (AD), including GPOs, DNS, DHCP, secure delegation, and directory services best practices.
- Develop and manage Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including hybrid identity, Conditional Access, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Identity Protection, and Privileged Identity Management (PIM).
- Manage Microsoft 365 tenant configuration, governance, licensing, and operational health.
- Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and related collaboration platforms.
- Design, deploy, and manage Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including virtual machines, networking, storage, backup, monitoring, and disaster recovery.
- Support hybrid cloud integrations and ensure reliable, secure connectivity between cloud and on-premises environments.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell automation to improve efficiency, consistency, and security.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
- Participate in infrastructure projects, upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
- Provide architectural recommendations and strategic planning for Microsoft technologies and services.
- Evaluate new Microsoft capabilities and develop roadmaps for adoption and continuous improvement.

MINIMIUM QUALIFICATIONS- 7+ years of Microsoft systems administration experience.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Deep expertise in Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, and Microsoft 365.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft licensing, A5 capabilities, and license optimization strategies.
- Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently while providing technical leadership across a small IT organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSTypical office setting. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Preparation for AirVenture or other events may require lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally, standing and walking for extended periods of time while bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and push and pull motions.
