Job Description:
What It Means to Be a Consultant at Crowe
Consulting is a dynamic business focused on solving problems for our clients and serving our core markets through innovative solutions. As technology and AI continue to reshape the consulting landscape, we are looking for individuals who are curious, adaptable, and eager to learn. At Crowe, consultants are expected to build both technical and transferable skills, think critically, and use technology to solve real business problems. In this role, you will continuously learn, collaborate across teams, and explore how tools, including emerging AI capabilities, can improve efficiency, insights, and client outcomes.
As you grow, you’ll also begin to take ownership of client relationships, contribute to account strategy, and support the delivery of high-impact work. Developing a sense of account leadership, including understanding client needs, ensuring delivery excellence, and building trusted partnerships, is part of what sets successful consultants apart.
Success in this role comes from a growth mindset, strong communication skills, advanced critical thinking, and the ability to navigate new challenges with confidence.
About the Role
Crowe's Microsoft AI Business Solutions practice is expanding, and we're seeking an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance Consultant to lead our growing post-go-live optimization and continuous improvement offering. Rather than standing up new implementations, you'll partner with clients who are already live on D365 Finance — closing the gap between what the system is capable of and what it's actually delivering for them today.
If you want meaningful impact, autonomy, and a clear path to practice leadership — built around making an existing investment work harder rather than chasing the next big-bang go-live — this is a strategic career opportunity, not just another consulting role.
What You Will Lead and Influence
- Assess live D365 Finance environments to identify underused features, configuration drift, and gaps between designed process and actual usage — then build a prioritized roadmap to close them.
- Advise finance and operations leaders on how to realize more value from their existing D365 investment, including new capability delivered through Microsoft's ongoing release waves.
- Lead functional enhancements, feature optimization, data integrity remediation, and user experience improvements that drive adoption and measurable ROI.
- Own the enhancement backlog: triage change requests, scope and sequence the roadmap, and guide delivery teams through design, testing, and release with minimal disruption to live operations.
- Distinguish "fix it" issues from "improve it" opportunities, and route each to the right team and cadence.
- Identify opportunities to apply agentic AI and Copilot-driven automation to back-office finance processes — AP/invoice matching, collections, reconciliations, close tasks — reducing manual effort and freeing finance teams for higher-value analysis.
- Participate in quality reviews and steer engagement teams through assessment, enhancement, and release phases.
- Contribute to Crowe's optimization methodologies, accelerators, and best practices; mentor team members; and help grow our post-go-live offering.
- Engage in team-building and internal initiatives, leveraging non-client time for personal development and practice enhancement.
What Makes Crowe a Strong Career Move
- High-impact role owning the client relationship after go-live — when most of the real, sustained value gets created or lost.
- Rapidly growing D365 Finance optimization and managed-services offering, backed by a nationally recognized consulting brand.
- Clear advancement path into Solution Architect, Industry Lead, or Practice Leadership roles.
- Strong investment in your development (certification support, training, conferences, thought leadership opportunities).
- Collaborative culture that values quality, innovation, and balanced workloads.
- Flexible work environment — most engagements are remote-first with periodic on-site visits, typically lighter and more predictable than full-lifecycle implementation travel.
Experience That Makes You Successful (Must-Have)
- Bachelors degree required.
- 4+ years of hands-on D365 Finance experience, including meaningful time supporting or optimizing live production environments — not solely net-new implementations.
- D365 certifications in Finance or related modules; CPA, CMA, or CFA
- Proven track record identifying and closing the gap between a system's designed capability and how it's actually being used — root-causing adoption issues, not just resolving tickets.
- Strong functional expertise across core finance and operational modules (GL, AP, AR, FA, Cash/Bank, Reporting, etc.), including how they behave under real-world conditions: data volume, period-close pressure, and integration dependencies.
- Ability to lead enhancement and optimization roadmaps, translate business pain points into scoped, sequenced improvements, and guide teams through execution.
- Excellent communication skills with experience engaging C-suite and director-level stakeholders — including the harder conversation of explaining why "just add a feature" isn't always the right fix.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a rolling backlog, produce high-quality work products, and lead engagements with minimal oversight.
Preferred
- Experience in Manufacturing or Distribution environments; Metals industry exposure highly valued.
- Strong functional expertise across operational modules (Procurement, Inventory, etc.).
- Experience with complementary ISV solutions within the D365 ecosystem, including how they're affected by platform updates over time.
- Familiarity with Microsoft's D365 release-wave cadence and change management practices for live environments.
- Experience designing or implementing agentic AI or Copilot-based workflows for finance or back-office processes.
- Prior consulting experience within a professional services environment, ideally including managed services, AMS, or post-go-live support.
