Full Job Description
The Manager, Executive Communications & Media leads a broad range of corporate communications activities supporting the company's C-suite executives and key corporate functions. This role serves as a strategic partner to LyondellBasell executives, developing and delivering impactful global executive communications, including presentations, speeches, and media engagements.

The role requires a strong understanding of the media landscape, with demonstrated experience working with top-tier business and financial media to deliver measurable outcomes. The individual will serve as a company spokesperson and must be adept at managing issues and crisis communications. They will also provide media coaching and guidance to senior leaders to strengthen executive presence and message delivery.

The Manager will lead communications for regional and large-scale initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions and issues management, while supporting digital and visual storytelling across multiple channels.

As a trusted advisor to multiple stakeholders, the individual must effectively manage competing priorities, lead multiple projects simultaneously, and engage with colleagues at all levels of the organization in a professional and collaborative manner.

This position reports to the Director of Corporate Communications and is based in Houston, Texas.

A Day in the Life

  • Manages the company's tier 1 media relations, building and maintaining strong relationships with key outlets and journalists
  • Develops executive thought leadership for the company, including executive communications and media relations strategies and tactics on a regional / global / company level.
  • Serves as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Executive Committee, developing high-impact keynote speeches, presentations and messaging for external engagements, including conferences and panel discussions.
  • Provides indirect leadership and direction to a broader team supporting executive thought leadership, ensuring alignment, consistency and high-quality delivery.
  • Leads communications strategy and execution for regional, and large-scale, global initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions and enterprise issues management.
  • Provides senior leader and C-suite executives counsel for reputation management.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert of tier 1 media relations for Communications colleagues to promote consistency in external communications related to media.
  • Uses data, insights and performance metrics to inform decision-making and continuously improve communications effectiveness.
  • Acts as a company spokesperson, managing media inquiries and cultivating relationships to support positive, accurate and timely coverage.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field


Work Experience
  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience in a communications-related field with strong writing, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Prior corporate communications experience working across functional teams and with business leaders on complex projects.
  • Chemical industry or similar experience is preferred.
  • Agency experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of AP style preferred.
