Full Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Marketing, Business, Healthcare or related field and three years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Clinical experience is highly desirable.
  • At least five years of physician relations, health care sales or marketing experience to include business/sales plan development.


Job Summary:

Cultivates referrals to UTMB through relationship development with UTMB physicians, external physicians, employers, community organizations, EMS, and community members.

Working Environment:
  • The working environment varies to include heavy travel in the primary and secondary service area with occasional outside travel.
  • Must be able to travel in own vehicle throughout the UTMB service area (Galveston County, Southern Brazoria County, Harris County and RMCHP area locations), Beaumont, Baytown, Richmond.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evening and weekends.


Job Duties:
  • Promotes internal clinical/service line programs to external referring providers, employers, Emergency Medical Services, and the community.
  • Maintains understanding of current and changing UTMB strategic and business development initiatives to target specific opportunities for growth.
  • Collaborate regularly with representatives from Faculty Group Practice (FGP) to identify and promote new faculty externally and internally as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with the UTMB referral team to maintain full knowledge and understanding of the UTMB patient referral process
  • Understands provider referral patterns to cultivate referral activity for UTMB providers and hospitals inform ongoing growth planning and strategy development.
  • Coordinates Continuing Medical Education (CME) events as may be appropriate to establish relationships between internal and external providers, free standing emergency departments (FSED), and community hospitals.
  • May be requested to promote UTMB providers, services and programs through participation in community events sponsored by UTMB.
  • Facilitate community visits to providers to deliver marketing materials/information.
  • Maintain relations with established EMS, FSED, community hospitals, independent practices with regular face to face visits.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to communicate resolution back to key stakeholders
  • Maintain service line engagement with community partners.
  • Participate in the distribution of flyers for service line programs, events, EMS Lecture Series, and training.
  • Coordinate EMS Lecture Series.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Competence in dealing with a variety of individuals including physicians, executive leaders, employers, EMS, and community leaders.
  • Proactive approach to problem resolution.
  • Creativity, time management, and ability to work independently.


Salary Range:

Actually salary commensurate with experience.
