Job DescriptionThe MEPFP Systems Estimator will prepare estimates for MEPFP trades (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection), working with the estimating team, architects, and clients to ensure accuracy and budget alignment. They will work on projects at all phases of design across all sectors of the business.
Responsibilities- Perform pre-bid plan review for MEPFP scopes across all project types.
- Complete itemized quantity take-off and price estimating for the Mechanical (M), Electrical (E), Plumbing (P), and Fire Protection (FP) trades.
- Work with Estimators on analysis of subcontractor bids and assembly of proposals.
- Attend project interviews and estimating review sessions/meetings with the Erland team, architects, engineers, and clients.
- Utilize historical data, construction knowledge, and industry benchmarks to develop estimates.
- Facilitate subcontractor buyout of project MEPFP systems.
- Pre-purchase long lead MEPFP equipment as necessary to protect project schedules.
- Lead and support Value Engineering efforts on MEPFP systems.
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent years of relevant industry experience in lieu of a degree.
- 4 - 8 years of experience in commercial mechanical estimating. Experience in plumbing, fire protection, or electrical estimating is a plus. A willingness and eagerness to learn additional trades through professional training and certification is required
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems (rooftop systems, hydronic systems, exhaust systems, etc.) expected. Understanding of other specialty systems (process piping, etc.) is a plus.
- Working knowledge of related computer programs (On-Screen Takeoff, Autodesk Takeoff, Excel).
- Must be physically able to navigate a job site, potentially with rough terrain.
Salary Range:The anticipated base salary for the MEPFP is $120,000 - $160,000. Please note that base pay is only one part of Erland's total compensation package. Your actual salary will be determined by your unique skills, experience, education, and specific qualifications.
