MEP Project Manager

Key Responsibilities

KEY DELIVERABLES

• Understand project workflows (schematic design, design development, construction documentation phases) and project management.
• Experience with Design/Build, Design/Assist, and Plan/Spec project management process and methods.
• Knowledge and understanding of various commercial mechanical/electrical/plumbing/fire suppression systems and types.
• Ability to read and understand project plans and specifications at all levels of design.
• Develop MEP/FP Bid Packages, create MEP/FP bid scopes, and provide MEP/FP Budget review and Value analysis.
• Create and maintain library of historical of MEP/FP cost data, unit costs, and benchmarking information.
• Partner with MEP/FP design team and drive timely resolution of design issues, decisions, and action items.
• Leverage BIM/VDC processes and technology to support constructability, clash detection, prefabrication, installation planning, and stakeholder communication
• Manage MEP/FP scope and cost changes, including change order requests, pricing review, and impact assessment.
• Support MEP/FP equipment procurement, including long-lead identification, submittal status, release requirements, and delivery tracking.
• Develop and maintain MEP/FP milestone schedules in coordination with the overall project schedule; identify risks and recovery actions early.
• Coordinate MEP/FP permits, RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation required for timely execution.
• Partner with Superintendents and project field leadership to support installation sequencing, site logistics, access, and trade coordination. Provide on-site MEP management support as required.
• Lead or support MEP/FP commissioning, training, punch list, as-built documentation, and turnover activities.
• Manage communication among MEP/FP trades and interface with the Owner, Architect, Engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors as needed.
• Communicate technical, cost, schedule, and coordination issues clearly to a variety of audiences and facilitate timely decisions.
• Promote collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and an inclusive team environment.
• Support the development of MEP/VDC best practices, lessons learned, standards, and knowledge sharing across projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required in Construction / Engineering related program.
• Mechanical engineering degree or Electrical engineering degree is preferred.
• 7+ years' experience in the construction industry. 5+ years' experience in MEP coordination/management.
• Working knowledge of BIM/VDC processes and their application to MEP coordination is preferred.
• Strongly prefer a minimum of combination experience, including coordination, project engineering, virtual design, and construction experience.
• Must possess the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks at once.
• Ability to communicate and present design and/or construction ideas to a variety of audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, to manage deadlines and prioritize assignments.

• A passion for looking for ways to improve individual and/or company performance.
• Must have working knowledge of MS Office, including strong skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Environmental Factors and Working Conditions

The work environment for this position is a typical office environment with occasional construction site visits. When in the office, the physical demands require the ability to sit for long periods of time. Intermittent movement, such as accessing centrally located office equipment, lifting of 35 lbs, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing, may be necessary to perform the requirements of this position. Site visits may subject the individual to hazards commonly associated with construction. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to be worn as required on project sites and in the warehouse.
