Project Overview:

Bechtel Infrastructure with its sub-contractors has been appointed as the Delivery Partner (DP) within an Integrated Project Team (IPT) comprising the customer, Metrolinx and its Technical Authority (TA) for the Ontario Line Subway (OLS) Project. The project scope includes the design build, operation and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15km of new alignment, being delivered through two major Public Private Partnership (P3) contracts, multiple Early and Advanced works (EAW) contracts and additional DBB and PDB contracts. As the DP, Bechtel forms a key part of the overall leadership of the OLS Project.

Job Summary:

As an MEP Field Specialist, you will provide on-site expertise and support for the delivery of Ontario Line's South Civil works, focusing on a designated project section. Reporting to the MEP Project Manager, you will represent the client on-site, overseeing contractors and daily Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) construction activities to ensure work is executed safely, meets quality standards, and complies with project requirements.

You will oversight and support contractor execution planning, work packaging, quantity verification, technical inspections, testing, and handover processes. Your role includes monitoring progress, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance delivery performance. Additionally, you will maintain timely and accurate reporting, including daily, weekly, and monthly construction updates, ensuring transparency and alignment across project stakeholders.#LI-RM1

Major Responsibilities:

Work Planning & Packaging
  • Provide client-side approvals for MEP work plans and provide on-site oversight.
  • Oversee daily MEP activities in assigned areas, ensuring adherence to project requirements and quality standards.
  • Support the development, coordination, and management of Contractor MEP work packages.
  • Interface with planning teams to define construction methods and procedures for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Participate in Plan-of-the-Day, weekly progress, and daily meetings to track MEP performance, resolve issues, and provide technical guidance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, optimize schedules, and recommend enhancements to Project/Construction Management.

Quantities & Progress Tracking
  • Verify on-site MEP quantities against Contractor tracking systems or other databases to ensure accuracy.
  • Review and manage daily, weekly, and monthly MEP construction plans and report progress quantities.
  • Ensure proper documentation of work completion to support reporting, invoicing, and handover.


Major Responsibilities(Contd.):

Safety & Quality Control
  • Champion zero-accident philosophy and enforce adherence to safety requirements for all MEP activities.
  • Monitor field safety performance during mechanical, electrical, and plumbing operations, ensuring compliance with site procedures.
  • Conduct daily site inspections to ensure safe, organized, and compliant work areas, including housekeeping, access control, and hazard mitigation.
  • Promote quality awareness, ensuring MEP personnel are trained, hazards are identified, and work meets contractual and design specifications.

Technical Oversight & Learning
  • Provide technical guidance on MEP installations, inspections, and testing procedures.
  • Support continuous professional development through training, learning activities, and knowledge sharing.

System Turnover Coordination
  • Assist site teams with verification of MEP work completion against design requirements.
  • Support the management of quality documentation, including non-conformance reports (NCRs) and as-built verification, to enable timely package closeout.
  • Review and approve MEP inspection and test plans (ITPs), ensuring compliance with project standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors to ensure successful execution, inspection, and handover of MEP systems.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or international equivalent) with 2-5 years of relevant MEP experience, or 6-9 years of relevant MEP work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience supporting Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) construction activities, including installation oversight, quality control, testing, and handover processes.
  • Prior experience in rail, metro, or large-scale building projects is preferred.


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in railway or metro infrastructure projects, with strong understanding of MEP delivery, operational interfaces, and coordination with live infrastructure.
  • In-depth knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, lighting, plumbing, fire protection, and associated controls, and ability to assess performance, verify compliance, and support installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Understanding construction sequencing, MEP installation methods, quality assurance, inspection procedures, and how MEP systems integrate with architectural, structural, civil, and rail works; ability to identify and resolve clashes and support constructability reviews.
  • Proficiency in BIM/CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Navisworks for design review, coordination, and clash detection.
  • Solid knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering principles and their application in multi-disciplinary rail projects.
  • Awareness of environmental compliance, sustainability practices, industry quality standards, and documentation requirements.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, databases) and digital reporting platforms.
