DescriptionSalary Range: $36.54 - $52.88
Assists the Department's Director/Manager in the coordination of Medical Staff activities. Provides functional guidance to assist the Medical Staff, Administration, and Board of Directors in adhering to Bylaws, Rules & Regulations, and regulatory agencies. Coordinates Medical Staff activities for assigned meetings and credentialing functions. In addition to performing the essential functions listed below, may also be assigned other duties as required.
Reports to: Medical Staff Services Director/Manager
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college or business school desired.
- A minimum of two years' experience as a Medical Staff Coordinator or hold a position of equivalent experience. Acute care setting preferred.
- Minute-taking experience is required.
- Must understand the Medical Staff organizational structure and have a working knowledge of credentialing, peer review, proctoring, Joint Commission standards, and State and Federal requirements related to medical staff.
- CPMSM or CPCS certification by NAMSS preferred upon hire. Must possess the following skills:

1. The Medical Staff Coordinator is responsible for providing the support meeting documentation.
2. Perform credentialing functions (including but not limited to initial
3. applications, temporary/additional privileges, reappointments, proctoring, credentials reporting, resignations and LOAs) on an as needed basis
4. Manage numerous details in coordinating work of various Medical Staff officers and committees within the department and externally
5. Facilitates the coordination of assigned medical staff standing, ad hoc and special committee meetings with the support of other Medical Staff Office personnel.
6. Ensures oversight of the meeting room schedule for the Medical Staff meetings; interacts with Food Services, Information Systems, and Facility Services to ensure coordination for setup of meetings and events is established.
7. Maintenance of database, filing, and current credentials. Verify filing and data entry are updated weekly or more often as needed.
8. Oversight of the expiration process to ensure reports are initiated and acted upon monthly, such as data collected, updated, filed, and disseminated. Assist with processing information as needed.
9. Answer telephones for the Medical Staff Office and assist with specific medical staff projects as needed, such as Board Certification tracking, meeting attendance tracking, dues management, document updates, hearing participation, and accreditation report support.
10. Has current working knowledge of medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, policies and procedures, Joint Commission and IMQ/CMA Standards, and can respond to questions regarding those items during committee meetings and assist in the ongoing revision of such.
