Job Description:

Pediatric Intensivist Opportunity in Flagstaff, Arizona

Currently recruiting two fulltime intensivist positions (we currently have one fulltime intensivist with locums assistance). Opportunity to take over Medical Director position.

Staffing Model
  • 3 Pediatric Intensivists evenly share coverage (full time is approximately 10 24hr days per month)
  • Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (with PICU training and experience) in house 24/7
  • Pediatric Nurse Practitioners provide first call for all patients
  • Intensivists take call from home


The Unit
  • 14-bed combined PICU and pediatric floor (all private rooms, all rooms are PICU-capable)
  • Pediatric Nurse Practitioners primarily responsible for writing notes and orders
  • Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Intensivists together care for all patients (PICU and floor)
  • Excellent, experienced nursing staff, respiratory therapists, and therapists (physical, speech, and occupational)
  • Diverse and large catchment area. Only PICU in northern Arizona, which serves the Grand Canyon, Navajo Nation, and Arizona mountain region
  • Level 1 Trauma center
  • Active surgical services (including neurosurgery, ENT, general surgery, ortho, trauma, etc.)
  • All ventilator modalities (HFOV, etc.). No ECMO. No cardiac surgery.
  • Currently developing an outpatient sedation service

  • Special care nursery staffed by neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners

Position Requirements
  • Board Certified (not merely board eligible) in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
  • Post-fellowship experience (minimum 5 years attending-level experience in a large, busy PICU preferred)
  • For the Medical Director position, candidates must have demonstrated leadership ability and experience
