Full Job Description
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a Full-Time, Part-Time, or PRN Medical Director (M.D.) for the Plymouth County Correctional Facility. Candidate must be agreeable to travel between two facilities Plymouth County Correctional Facility & Bristol County Jail & House of Corrections in North Dartmouth

Responsibilities
  • Provide timely and appropriate medical care of the patient population in accordance with community and national standards of care.
  • Respects the patients' right to privacy in accordance with confidentiality practices for incarcerated individuals.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of all patient information, including medical record information.
  • Ensures that minimum documentation standards are met and that the medical record supports the care and continuity of care of the patient.
  • Provides on-site emergency treatment and responds appropriately in urgent medical situations.
  • Assumes accountability and responsibility for his/her own actions and judgments.
  • Reviews x-ray and laboratory findings.
  • It will be the duty to prescribe the appropriate type of medicine and treatment.
  • Responsible for referring patients for special types of diagnostic treatments or medical procedures and coordinates plans for treatments.
  • Provides medical consultation to prevention, treatment, care and diagnosis of health conditions and problems.
  • Adheres to, safely enforces and follows security procedures and regulations for security related policies and procedures, key control, sharps inventories and controlled substances.
  • Communicates schedule changes with Administrator and assists in arrangement of medical services coverage for planned absences.
  • Adheres to all CPS Clinical and Administrative policies.
  • It is an essential part of the job that CPS can ask the employee to work beyond his/her regularly scheduled hours.
  • Follow all security rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Schedule:

Full-Time

Salary:

$170 - $180 per hour

Requirements

Qualifications and Education:
  • Must possess a current Massachusetts M.D. license.
  • Current Federal Controlled Substance Registration must be in good standing.
  • Current Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration must be in good standing.
  • Must be Board Certified/eligible or qualified by state laws and regulations to practice medicine.
  • Experience in primary care specialty in corrections or managed care delivery preferred.
  • Hold current CPR certification.

Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move over 35 pounds.
  • Regularly able to adequately perform CPR.
