Overview
WakeMed Physician Practices is seeking an experienced, board-certified/board-eligible Gastroenterologist to serve as
Medical Director of Gastroenterology. This leadership opportunity combines inpatient and outpatient GI medicine with the ability to influence strategy, growth, quality, and operational performance across a well-established GI program consisting of 9 gastroenterologists and 12 APPs.
The Medical Director will provide clinical care while partnering closely with physician and administrative leaders to advance service line initiatives, enhance patient outcomes and experience, support regional growth, strengthen referral relationships, and drive operational excellence. This role collaborates extensively with physicians, APPs, nursing, health system administration, community physician partners, marketing, recruiting, and support teams to ensure the continued success and development of the Gastroenterology division. Position will be structured as .85 FTE clinical and .15 FTE administrative.
Located in North Carolina, WakeMed Gastroenterology provides inpatient and outpatient care throughout Wake County, including locations in Raleigh and Cary.
