Opportunity Overview
Teradyne's Memory Test Division in San Jose, CA is seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for the development of next-generation memory test platforms.

This team designs and supports the mechanical platforms and accessories that enable Teradyne's advanced memory test solutions. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical and team leadership with organizational management skills to drive innovation, product quality, and engineering excellence.

  • Lead engineering activities related to memory test platforms, including test heads, manipulators, support bays, and test beds.
  • Collaborate with other mechanical engineering managers on inter-team projects.
  • Manage team staffing, budgets, performance, professional development, and recruiting efforts.
  • Establish and continuously improve efficient, quality-focused product development processes.
  • Define and execute the technology roadmap for future platform architectures, aligned with performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability objectives.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing partners, and external engineering resources to support product development initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Electrical, Software, Systems, NPI, Operations, Manufacturing, and Service Engineering teams to develop, launch, and sustain world-class memory test platforms.
  • Drive engineering rigor, technical excellence, and continuous improvement across the Memory Test Division.


All About You
You thrive in complex technical environments and are motivated by solving high-speed signaling and interface-architecture challenges. You enjoy leading teams, shaping technical direction, and building robust hardware that supports next-generation memory devices.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience developing mechanical or electromechanical products, preferably within semiconductor capital equipment or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex hardware development programs from concept through production.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, materials selection, product optimization, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and external engineering partners.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Broad technical knowledge spanning mechanical, thermal, electrical, and system-level engineering disciplines.
  • Solid understanding of the product development lifecycle for electromechanical systems.

Preferred
  • Experience with semiconductor test equipment, automation systems, or other high-performance capital equipment.
  • Experience driving platform architecture and long-term product roadmaps.
  • Familiarity with design-for-manufacturing (DFM), design-for-serviceability (DFS), and reliability engineering practices.

Additional Information
  • Limited international travel may be required (typically once per year).
  • Candidates must be local to the San Jose, CA area. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this role is $160,00 - 256,100. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.

Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
