The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components. This role involves working across the full product development lifecycle, from initial concept generation through design, prototyping, testing, validation, and manufacturing implementation. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science, and is proficient with modern computer-aided design (CAD) software.
Product Design & Development- Concept Generation: Create innovative mechanical concepts and system designs to meet product specifications and customer requirements.
- 3D Modeling & Drafting: Utilize advanced CAD tools to develop detailed 3D models and precise 2D manufacturing drawings with appropriate GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Material Selection: Select optimal materials and manufacturing processes based on structural, thermal, environmental, and cost requirements.
Engineering Analysis & Simulation- Structural Analysis: Perform stress, strain, fatigue, and vibration calculations using Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Thermal & Fluid Dynamics: Analyze thermal performance and fluid flow within systems to optimize heat dissipation, packaging, and efficiency.
- Tolerance Stack-up: Conduct mechanical tolerance stack-up analyses to ensure component assembly and reliable system operation.
Prototyping, Testing & Validation- Prototype Assembly: Coordinate and assist in building physical prototypes for concept validation and functional testing.
- Test Planning: Define, document, and execute comprehensive validation test plans (e.g., thermal cycle, environmental stress, structural load, fatigue testing).
- Data Analysis: Analyze test data, troubleshoot failures, identify root causes, and implement design iterations to improve performance and reliability.
Collaboration & Manufacturing Support- Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate closely with Electrical Engineers, Software Engineers, Product Managers, and Project Managers.
- Manufacturing Integration: Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) to streamline production, reduce costs, and improve quality. Work directly with manufacturing teams and suppliers to resolve production bottlenecks and quality issues.
- Documentation: Create, release, and maintain technical documentation, including assembly instructions, BOMs (Bill of Materials), engineering change orders (ECOs), and product specifications.
Education• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field. (A Master's degree is a plus).
