Overview

We are seeking a licensed Mechanical Engineer to support the planning, coordination, design and execution of mechanical systems on complex construction projects. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working collaboratively with project teams, designers, and trade partners, and who wants to deepen their technical expertise while staying closely connected to both the field and office.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and coordination of mechanical systems including HVAC, process piping, plumbing, fire protection and related building systems
  • Review drawings and specifications for constructability, coordination, and clarity
  • Assist with mechanical scope development, system layouts, and sequencing strategies
  • Develop complete engineering documents for mechanical systems including plans and specifications
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Superintendents, and MEP team members to resolve design and field issues
  • Participate in coordination meetings with design teams, trade partners, and owners
  • Support review of submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings related to mechanical systems
  • Assist with field observations to verify installation aligns with drawings and specifications
  • Support system start-up, testing, commissioning, and closeout documentation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, lessons learned, and best practices development
  • Uphold JP Cullen's standards for safety, quality, and teamwork on every project


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and Professional Engineering license
  • At least five years of Design experience. Advanced expertise and experience in the current release of AutoCAD and Revit
  • Understanding of HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, and building systems coordination
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • Willingness to engage in both office and active jobsite environments
