Full Job Description
At CESO, the Mechanical Team Lead brings advanced engineering expertise and leadership experience to oversee the design, coordination, and delivery of engineering construction documentation, specifications, and details across multiple complex projects. This position is responsible for managing production teams, setting priorities, and ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and company best practices. The Mechanical Team Lead actively leads internal and external meetings, providing strategic input and technical guidance based on extensive experience, research, and industry knowledge. The Mechanical Team Lead mentors and supports team members, fostering professional growth and collaboration, while also reviewing and approving engineering deliverables to ensure technical accuracy and consistency. In addition, the Team Lead leverages engineering software and tools to evaluate and refine designs, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to high-level technical reports and project documentation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the team's quality of work, productivity, and actions.
  • Direct and support production teams by assigning tasks, balancing workloads, and ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet technical and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of projects-from planning and design through construction documentation and administration-ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Discipline Leaders on project budgeting, scheduling, staffing forecasts, and proposal development.
  • Offer expert guidance on design, code compliance, and technical problem-solving, including implementation of Quality Management Programs, QA reviews, engineering/architectural calculations, and documentation accuracy.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between internal teams, clients, consultants, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) to ensure project clarity, alignment, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Interpret and apply company, client, and jurisdictional requirements, standards and applicable codes to ensure all designs and documentation meet professional, legal and safety obligations.
  • Perform or coordinate site visits, field measurements, and construction observations to validate existing conditions and support construction administration.
  • Implement and uphold quality management processes, recommend design improvements, and contribute to the development of best practices and standards.
  • Lead meetings, document decisions, and clearly communicate project goals, updates, and changes to all relevant parties, including clients and senior leadership.
  • Supervising direct reports is a key responsibility of this job.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university and 8 or more years of relevant experience is preferred; Or a minimum of 10 years of professional experience is required.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering, or similar discipline, can substitute up to 1 year of work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership or management role is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is strongly preferred.
  • Completion of Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) and certification as an Engineering in Training (EIT) with a state licensure board is preferred.
  • Computer skills necessary to enter daily timesheet data and use Microsoft Outlook for email correspondence.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Deltek, Autodesk Revit, Visual Lighting, SKM Power Tools, BlueBeam Revu and other applicable design software.
  • Travel may be up to 25% as directed by supervisor.
