Full Job Description
Who You Are: (Job Summary)

The Mechanical Engineer will support the overall design and execution of QTS Onsite Generation (OSG) infrastructure. This role will support the delivery of OSG capacity at each campus for data center projects. This role will interface and collaborate with many critical stakeholders, including but not limited to: vendors and suppliers, EPC partners, Owner's Engineers; pre-development leads evaluating new properties; operations leaders managing load growth projections; and development team project leaders planning and building new data centers and generation facilities.

What You Will Do: (Job Responsibilities)
  • Support the technical components related to design, construction, installation, and commissioning of power generation equipment and systems.
  • Support vetting and analysis efforts related to power generation equipment.
  • Support permitting, feasibility assessments, and due diligence workflows.
  • Generate technical slide decks, reports, and document / contract summaries to enable quick decision-making for senior leaders.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to power generation construction and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to meet project timelines and budgets.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and documentation for power generation projects.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements. Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Provide technical support and training to junior engineers and field personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What You Will Need to Be Successful: (Required Qualifications, Education, Experience, Certifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) and/or Engineer in Training (EIT) registration.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Power Generation Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficient in mechanical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, hydraulic analysis, HVAC analysis programs ).
  • Strong knowledge of Power Generation equipment, including gas turbines, Selective Catalyst Reduction systems, air compression, and water treatment systems.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE, NFPA).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% to project sites as needed.


Nice to Have: (Preferred Qualifications, Education, Experience, Certifications)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • 7+ Years of experience in power generation engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and design (e.g., flow modeling, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, isometrics).
