DescriptionDo you get more satisfaction from a correctly toleranced drawing than from a meeting invite?
Can you look at a non-conforming part and tell people exactly why it failed and how to fix it?
Are you the engineer other engineers go to when a design problem doesn't have an obvious answer?
Do you actually enjoy the tradeoff between mechanical, electrical, structural, and automotive constraints?
Would you rather build a system right the first time than patch it later?
If this sounds like you, then we need to talk...
What Does a Week in the Life of the Mechanical Engineer Look Like?
- Reviews open engineering requests and prioritizes based on production impact.
- Walks the shop floor to check a design against how it's actually being built.
- Digs into a non-conforming part report and determines root cause and disposition.
- Updates drawings and BOMs to reflect an approved design change.
- Researches a new material or component for an upcoming product update.
- Builds a work breakdown structure and cost estimate for a multi-phase project.
- Coordinates with a supplier to resolve a fit or tolerance issue.
- Joins the engineering staff meeting to report progress and flag technical risks.
Required Education and Experience:
- 2-4 years of mechanical or manufacturing engineering experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Proficiency in Inventor or Solidworks.
- Experience with time and cost estimation, BOM development, manufacturing sequencing, and systems design.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and creating and maintaining technical documentation.
- Ability to work across mechanical, structural, automotive, and certification disciplines in a process-driven environment.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience with progressively increasing manufacturing or production responsibility.
- Background in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with custom vehicle production.
Skills (to Pay the Bills)
Here's a list of a few competencies that the Mechanical Engineer at Frazer should have...
- You're precise to the core, and a wrong dimension bugs you until it's fixed.
- You can move between a CAD model and the actual part on the floor without missing a beat.
- You ask why a design failed instead of just patching the symptom.
- You're comfortable being the person other engineers check their thinking against.
- You'd rather plan a project realistically than promise something you can't deliver.
- You treat documentation as part of the engineering, not an afterthought.
Why Frazer?
