Job Description
Job Summary:
Responsible for the development the creation of mechanical drawings, specifications, and calculations throughout all phases of project design under close supervision. Assists in developing mechanical system designs and analytical models for heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), hydronic, piping, and mechanical equipment systems using basic knowledge of applicable codes and standards. Collaborates with engineers, designers, modelers, and external stakeholders to produce coordinated, high-quality design solutions within budget and schedule. Supports construction administration activities by reviewing submittals, responding to requests for information (RFIs), and participating in site visits as directed.
Key Responsibilities:
Assists in the production of mechanical drawings, specifications, and calculations during the project design lifecycle from conceptual design through construction documents under close supervision.
Supports development of mechanical system designs, including HVAC distribution, piping layouts, and equipment selection, using basic knowledge of applicable codes and standards, while learning and applying company-wide standards and procedures.
Performs mechanical engineering calculations such as airflow, heating and cooling loads, pipe sizing, and pressure loss calculations with guidance from senior engineers.
Demonstrates strong record keeping skills while supporting Supports construction administration activities, including review of shop drawings, responses to RFIs, and participation in site visits as assigned.
Utilizes working knowledge of CAD and modeling software to create coordinated 2D drawings and 3D mechanical models.
Participates in internal and external coordination meetings to communicate progress and resolve design issues.
Engages in professional development by identifying personal training needs and seeking knowledge from others and identifies opportunities for technical and process improvements.
Education Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience required.
Work Experience:
4+ years of experience in mechanical engineering required.
Certifications and Licenses:
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
NCEES record for licensure maintenance preferred.
