Full Job Description
The Role
We are hiring a Mechanical Engineer to own supplier-built power-distribution products and packaged power-conversion skids from design through production.
This is a hands-on, on-site role. You will work alongside electrical engineers, field ops, and fabricators. You will not hand work off. You stay with the problem until it is solved.
What You Will Do
Own product design, manufacture, and daily technical work with suppliers.
Design and release enclosures, skid structures, lifting features, equipment layouts, routing, sealing, grounding, and service access.
Keep CAD, drawings, BOMs, work instructions, inspection, and as-built records aligned.
Resolve supplier, fit-up, quality, and schedule issues.
Build, inspect, and troubleshoot prototypes and production hardware.
Turn R&D designs into repeatable production.
Must-Haves
4+ years and a mechanical engineering degree or equivalent technical training.
Switchgear or similar electromechanical power-equipment experience.
Experience taking a product from incomplete requirements to working hardware.
Strong CAD, GD&T, drawing, BOM, and change-control skills.
Supplier and production issue ownership.
Hands-on measurement, assembly, inspection, and troubleshooting experience.
Able to work on-site full-time in Long Beach.
Nice-to-Haves
Switchboards, panelboards, transfer equipment, PCS skids, or packaged power systems.
UL 891, UL 1558, NEMA 250, NFPA 70, UL 9540, or NFPA 855.
Sheet metal, weldments, machining, sealing, lifting, or thermal design.
SolidWorks or Onshape, hand calculations, and tolerance stacks.
