Mechanical Deployment Engineer (Experienced Professional)
This opportunity is in Piedmont, SC south of the Donaldson Center. Join us in shaping the future of Michelin's airless tire. The Tweel is designed, refined, and manufactured all under one roof at our highly automated facility. As part of the Beyond Road Team, you will join a high-performing team producing the non-pneumatic Tweel for ATVs, UTVs, Skid Steers, Golf Carts, Zero-turn mowers, truck-mounted forklifts, and autonomous equipment.
THE OPPORTUNITYWe have an immediate opening in Piedmont, South Carolina for a
Mechanical Deployment Engineer whose responsibilities will be related to the mechanical engineering functions, processes, and resources for the site manufacturing operation.
WHAT YOU WILL DO- Develop and apply engineering principles to improve and strengthen process equipment. The candidate will help develop and design concepts, test solutions, install equipment, and monitor performance.
- Identify new opportunities for improving machine reliability and efficiency within the manufacturing process
- Manage project teams
- Design new equipment or processes
- Simulate and test these equipment or processes to ensure they function as desired
- Write reports for senior colleagues outlining new concepts, testing outcomes, and ongoing efficiency
- Develop and maintain clear and accurate documentation of manufacturing equipment and/or processes
- Train staff where necessary - typically after implementing new processes or equipment, or making changes to existing ones
- Troubleshoot equipment when errors occur
- Perform root cause analysis on major machine failures
- Support the installation, start-up, modifications and evolution of manufacturing and chemical process machinery and equipment.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING- B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent M.E. experience. Machine design experience required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to effectively interact with people, both internal Michelin employees from various departments and métiers, as well as with external suppliers and experts.
- Excellent planning, organizational and communications skills both verbal and written
- Have strong technical aptitude, analytical abilities, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Have confidence and self-motivation to work autonomously and be able to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must be hands-on in approach and willing to spend time on the shop floor, interacting with process equipment and shop-floor personnel.
- Leadership and training skills are strongly preferred. Candidate must understand the application of various métier skills and be able to identify and coordinate the necessary training.
- Strong computer skills are preferred (MS Office, AutoCAD,).
- Solid Works experience required
- Working knowledge of engineering drawings and schematics is required.
- Knowledge in mechanical engineering concepts, technologies, theory and application is required.
