The Opportunity

The Mechanical Buildings Engineer - HVAC/Plumbing - Advanced Power Generation will support HVAC and plumbing engineering for conventional power generation facilities across the United States. The role will support multidisciplinary project teams in delivering code-compliant, coordinated, constructible, and high-quality building mechanical systems.

The Team

The Mechanical Engineering Department is a global team that delivers high quality, on time design and services projects in the areas of Power, Gas, Fuels & Chemicals, Water and Waste Water, Data Centers, and Mining including everything Mechanically related to Process and Power (from Conventional, Combined Heat and Power, Hydro, Hydrogen, Nuclear, Solar/Renewable, LNG, Ammonia, Fertilizer) projects to specialized Air Quality Control, HVAC, Fire Protection, Piping, Thermal and Renewable performance estimating and testing. The Buildings Mechanical Engineering team is responsible for designing systems that associated with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) in buildings. They also design plumbing and fire protection systems to ensure the safety and comfort of occupants. Additionally, the team focuses on energy efficiency and sustainability to optimize building performance while meeting the specific needs and requirements of each project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support HVAC and plumbing design activities for conventional power generation facilities.
  • Develop and review HVAC design criteria, load calculations, ventilation, exhaust, pressurization, heating, cooling, and equipment sizing.
  • Develop and review plumbing design criteria, domestic water, sanitary drainage, storm drainage coordination, emergency fixtures, floor drains, and specialty drainage requirements.
  • Prepare and review HVAC and plumbing drawings, specifications, schedules, equipment datasheets, calculations, and design reports.
  • Coordinate HVAC and plumbing deliverables with process, civil, structural, architectural, electrical, I&C, fire protection, piping, and procurement teams.
  • Review deliverables for technical quality, code compliance, constructability, maintainability, and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Support vendor reviews, RFIs, construction support, commissioning, and startup activities for HVAC and plumbing systems.Applies knowledge and ensures compliance with B&V quality program. Promotes a culture that is conducive to quality. Support continuous improvement, change management and risk management efforts.
  • Mentor junior level engineers and contribute to standardization, training, and knowledge sharing.Proactively provides guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies. May own, maintain, update, or develop engineering standards and guides. Provide technical guidance to others regarding projects or disciplines.
  • Applies knowledge and ensures compliance with B&V quality program. Establishes related processes and promotes a culture that is conducive to quality. Support continuous improvement, change management and risk management efforts.
  • Responsible for determining identification of key client interests and drivers on projects. Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on complex projects.
  • Works to identify future client needs and how to better position B&V for the future. May offer other services to the client. Typically provides support to business development or pursuit activities.
  • Serves as the technical specialist in a broad area of specialization, or in a narrow but specialized field. Develops and applies advanced engineering concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems. Typically supports multiple projects on medium to complex technical challenges.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing or equivalent experience in Engineering work.
  • Minimum of 4 years related work experience.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
  • Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries, and supports where necessary.

In accordance with local law, the following Annual compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $114,930.00 - $211,134.00
