Job Description:

The Marine Corps Cyberspace Operations (MCCO) Tool Developer program builds custom software that supports real-world cyber missions. Developers create tools that help defend Marine networks, identify vulnerabilities, automate cyber tasks, and support authorized offensive cyber operations. It's a hands-on, mission-driven role where you'll design and prototype solutions used directly by Marine Corps cyber teams and U.S. Cyber Command.

As a Software Developer SME, the work you'll do for GDIT will be impactful to the mission of Marine Corps Forces Cyberspace Command (MARFORCYBER) at Ft. Meade, MD:
  • Drive the full software development lifecycle for cutting-edge cyberspace capabilities that directly support Marine Corps cyber missions.
  • Shape project vision, scope, and timelines to deliver high-impact technical solutions.
  • Partner with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and prioritize mission requirements that guide development.
  • Identify risks early, assess vulnerabilities, and engineer secure, resilient solutions.
  • Design detailed system architectures, models, and prototypes that bring cyber capabilities to life.
  • Build, test, and refine software across multiple programming languages in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • Architect solutions using modern approaches including microservices, monolithic systems, and event-driven designs.
  • Write clean, well-documented code that supports long-term scalability and maintainability.
  • Manage configurations and version control with industry-standard tools like Git.
  • Lead quality assurance with rigorous unit, integration, system, and acceptance testing.
  • Implement secure coding practices, perform vulnerability assessments, and ensure compliance with strict cybersecurity standards.
  • Create and refine operational scripts that directly support cyberspace operations.
  • Integrate capabilities with USCYBERCOM's common services to ensure interoperability across the joint cyber mission.
  • Contribute to the development of cyberspace tradecraft and TTPs that strengthen MARFORCYBER's operational advantage.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Bring your software engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. Our Software Developer SME must have:
  • Security Clearance Level: Active TS/SCI with CI Poly
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in software development, with demonstrated expertise across the full lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C, C++, and Assembly.
  • Experience with development tools including Visual Studio and Git.
  • Familiarity with operating systems including Windows, Linux, and macOS.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong background in software architecture, modeling, and configuration management.
  • Secure coding practices and vulnerability assessment experience.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree; Master's Degree preferred

The likely salary range for this position is $170,000 - $230,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
