The Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Sonographer performs specialized, high-risk obstetric ultrasound examinations to support the diagnosis, monitoring, and management of maternal and fetal conditions. This role requires advanced technical expertise, clinical knowledge, and collaboration with maternal-fetal medicine physicians and interdisciplinary teams.Job Description

**Candidates can be located at either the Marshfield or Weston campus**
Perform comprehensive obstetric ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols, including first trimester screening and nuchal translucency, detailed fetal anatomic surveys (Level II), fetal growth assessments and biophysical profiles, and advanced Doppler studies on but not limited to umbilical artery, middle cerebral artery, uterine artery, and ductus venosus for multiple gestations. May perform routine obstetric exams in addition to high-risk maternal fetal medicine exams depending on location.
Acquire and optimize high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and adherence to as low as reasonably achievable principles. Recognize normal and abnormal maternal-fetal anatomy and physiology; promptly communicate significant findings to the interpreting physician. Assist with invasive procedures, including but not limited to amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling. Accurately document exam findings, measurements, and patient information as appropriate, in the electronic medical record in a timely manner.
Works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and care teams to support comprehensive patient care and workflow efficiency. Maintain proficiency in evolving MFM imaging techniques, technologies, and clinical best practices. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards (e.g., American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine/American College of Radiology as applicable) and departmental quality initiatives. Assist with accreditation when applicable.
Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care, demonstrate professionalism and sensitivity in high-risk and emotionally complex situations.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Imaging, Allied Health Certificate/Diploma. In leu of education must have one-year equivalent work experience.About Sanford Health
