As a Materials Engineer / Materials Testing and Inspection Specialist, you'll work across a diverse range of projects involving corrosion, metallurgy, protective coatings, welding, non-destructive testing (NDT), and infrastructure condition assessments. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary experts, contribute to meaningful projects across industrial, municipal, transportation, and energy sectors, and gain exposure to both engineering and field-based project delivery.
Your Impact- Support materials engineering, corrosion, coatings, welding, NDT, and infrastructure assessment projects from planning through execution.
- Conduct field and shop inspections, coordinate testing programs, and document findings that inform engineering decisions.
- Analyze inspection results, laboratory data, and field observations to support technical recommendations and asset management strategies.
- Contribute to condition assessments, rehabilitation projects, and construction-phase services for critical infrastructure.
- Prepare technical reports, inspection summaries, work plans, and project documentation that support successful project outcomes.
- Collaborate with engineers, inspectors, laboratories, contractors, and clients to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Develop expertise in industry standards, materials performance, durability, and asset integrity.

The Skills That Set You Apart- Degree or diploma in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Civil Engineering, Welding Technology, or a related discipline.
- Five or more years of experience in materials engineering, coatings, corrosion, welding inspection, NDT, materials testing, or infrastructure assessment.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC, or eligibility for registration, is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting field investigations, inspections, testing programs, and technical reporting.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as AMPP/NACE, CSA, ASTM, AWS, SSPC, or ISO.
- Strong written communication and technical documentation skills.
- Interest in asset durability, rehabilitation, materials performance, and infrastructure resilience.
- Valid BC Driver's Licence and willingness to travel occasionally to project sites throughout British Columbia.
Additional Assets- AMPP/NACE Coating Inspector certification.
- CSA W178.2 Welding Inspector certification.
- Additional certifications in coatings, welding, NDT, corrosion, cathodic protection, or construction inspection.
- Experience working in industrial, municipal, transportation, energy, or infrastructure environments.
CompensationAB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $89,800 - $118,900
MB & ON: $81,900 - $112,800
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $81,100 - $107,700
