Full Job Description
Aptar is seeking a Master Machinist based in Cary, IL. This position is onsite at our Cary plant. This role performs precision machining of parts for repair, maintenance and construction of high-speed assembly and prototype equipment. Responsible for Toolroom projects from conception to final outcome.

As a Master Machinist, You Will
  • Conceptualize, design and develop mechanisms for Toolroom projects
  • Must be able to work independently without supervision
  • Repair assembly machinery and component parts as a support to the Manufacturing Department
  • Produce spare parts for assembly equipment
  • Assist departments in development and production of prototype, measuring and experimental tooling
  • Perform custom and repair machining of plant related equipment
  • May perform mechanical drawings
  • May lead and/or instruct other machinists on projects
  • Train and orients new machinists
  • Act as team/work area leader to support team concept


Who We Are Looking For

Education
  • Must possess high school diploma or equivalent GED


Required Skills
  • Must be able to machine parts to close tolerances (+/-.0005) using conventional toolroom equipment (mill, lathe, surface grinder, etc.)
  • Must be familiar with machining ferrous, non-ferrous and synthetic materials and alloys
  • CNC mill/lathe operation and/or set up experience preferred
  • Welding experience
  • Must possess design skills.
  • Must be able to work with production personnel to design and troubleshoot high speed assembly equipment and prototypes.
  • Must be able to produce clear sketches of machined parts.
  • Must be able to weld
  • Must be capable of performing trigonometric functions
  • Must be able to build/rebuild production machinery
  • Must have general machinist hand tools (micrometers, calipers, indicator, edge-finder, square, scale, wrenches, screwdrivers, mallet, hammer, etc and locking toolbox)
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally during shift
  • Must be able to stand/walk for entire shift

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the starting salary range for this role is $35/hr - $45/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
