Job Description:

One of ITW’s businesses, Miller Electric Mfg Co is looking to benefit from business leadership as well as serves as an excellent venue for qualified candidates to develop the skills and experiences necessary to support career growth.  This specific leadership opportunity exists in a $115M division.

The Marketing & Sales Director is the key marketing leader and strategic partner to the Vice President/General Manager. This role is responsible for developing, communicating, and executing the organization's marketing and growth strategies, including product management, commercialization, market development, and customer value creation. The Marketing & Sales Director will identify and capitalize on growth opportunities, strengthen market penetration, and drive profitable business expansion through customer-focused and data-driven decision making.

Essential Functions

Strategic Leadership & Business Growth

  • Develop and execute business growth strategies, including goals, priorities, resource allocation, and investment plans.
  • Partner with division leadership to identify and prioritize growth opportunities that drive revenue, profitability, and market share.
  • Assess industry trends, competitive activity, customer needs, regulatory developments, and technological advancements to inform business strategy.
  • Identify and evaluate new markets, platforms, and business opportunities.
  • Serve as a key business leader, providing strategic input beyond the marketing function.

Market Insights & Commercialization

  • Lead market research, Voice of the Customer initiatives, and customer insight programs to identify opportunities and refine value propositions.
  • Analyze market, customer, competitive, demographic, pricing, and sales data to develop actionable recommendations and marketing objectives.
  • Drive market segmentation strategies that improve customer targeting, commercialization effectiveness, and penetration of priority end-user segments.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of customer needs and market dynamics to support profitable growth.

Product Management & Innovation

  • Lead product portfolio evaluation, positioning, pricing, and lifecycle management.
  • Co-lead new product development and innovation initiatives to meet market needs and expand market share.
  • Develop and execute promotional strategies and go-to-market plans that support growth and profitability.

Sales & Market Development

  • Collaborate with sales, distribution channels, and key customers to strengthen market presence and accelerate growth.
  • Develop programs and initiatives that increase market share in existing markets while expanding into new segments.
  • Act as a visible representative of the business with customers, channel partners, and industry stakeholders.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to direct reports and cross-functional teams.
  • Clearly communicate business priorities and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Effectively manage cross-functional relationships in alignment with ITW operating principles.

Operational Excellence

  • Leverage ITW Toolbox methodologies (80/20, PLS, MRD, USa) to improve market penetration, customer focus, and profitability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive marketing, product management, or commercial leadership experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing teams and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience in business-to-business (B2B) product development, commercialization, and growth strategy.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect strategic initiatives to financial performance and long-term business results.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to convert complex data into actionable business recommendations.
  • Proven success identifying profitable market segments, growth opportunities, and customer needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, lead change, and drive results through a fact-based, data-driven approach.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with customers, distribution channels, and industry partners.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Practical or theoretical knowledge of welding processes and consumables preferred.
  • P&L management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated potential and desire for continued leadership growth within the organization.
  • Ability to balance risk, make sound decisions, and execute with urgency.
  • Up to 30% travel required.
