Full Job Description
Position Summary

The Marketing Operations Director owns the systems, spend, and performance infrastructure that power the Chamber's marketing engine. This role is accountable for how marketing dollars are deployed, how performance is measured, and how event marketing drives member acquisition, engagement, and revenue. The Director sets strategy and owns outcomes - translating organizational priorities into media investment plans, measurement frameworks, and event marketing programs that deliver quantifiable results for the Chamber and its members.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Paid Media Purchasing & Coordination

  • Own the annual paid media budget strategy, allocation, and vendor relationships across digital, print, sponsorship, and out-of-home channels
  • Negotiate media buys, sponsorship placements, and agency/vendor contracts; hold partners accountable to performance benchmarks with external agencies
  • Coordinate media purchasing across campaigns and departments to eliminate redundant spend and capture volume efficiencies
  • Establish approval workflows and spend governance in partnership with Finance

Performance Metrics & Analytics

  • Design and own the marketing measurement framework: KPIs, dashboards, attribution, and board-ready reporting
  • Deliver monthly and quarterly performance reporting to the VP of Marketing with clear ROI analysis and reallocation recommendations
  • Build the data infrastructure (CRM, email, web, social, event platforms) needed for reliable full-funnel visibility
  • Set benchmarks for member acquisition cost, event marketing ROI, and campaign performance; drive continuous optimization

Event Marketing Strategy

  • Own the marketing strategy for the Chamber's event portfolio - signature events and member experiences - from positioning through post-event analysis
  • Define audience targets, promotional mix, and revenue goals for each event in partnership with the Events and Membership teams
  • Develop sponsorship marketing packages and audience data that strengthen the Chamber's sponsorship value proposition
  • Conduct post-event performance reviews and apply learnings to future strategy

Marketing Operations Leadership

  • Own the marketing technology stack: evaluation, procurement, integration, and adoption
  • Establish operational standards - budget tracking, vendor management, campaign calendars - that scale across the team
  • Partner with the VP of Marketing on annual planning, forecasting, and resource allocation

Job Specifications & Requirements

Required

  • 8+ years of progressive marketing experience with at least 3 years owning paid media budgets and vendor negotiations
  • Demonstrated track record of building measurement frameworks and reporting marketing ROI to executive audiences
  • Experience developing event or sponsorship marketing strategy with revenue accountability
  • Strong command of marketing analytics tools (CRM, GA4, email/social platforms) and budget management
  • Proven ability to operate cross-functionally with Finance, Events, and Membership functions

Preferred

  • Experience in membership organizations, associations, B2B, or civic/economic development marketing
  • Media buying or agency-side experience
  • People leadership experience
  • Familiarity with the Greater Philadelphia business community

Working at the Chamber

Working at the Chamber offers the best of both worlds-the resources and stability of a mid-sized business, paired with the purpose-driven mission of a nonprofit. As a key player in the region's business community, the Chamber provides team members with access to a wide network of connections, professional development opportunities, and meaningful work that drives regional impact. With a team of about 65 employees, we're large enough to offer strong support and infrastructure, yet small enough to provide opportunities to lead, grow, and make your mark. We foster a fast-paced, collaborative environment and offer competitive compensation along with an outstanding benefits package.

Work Conditions

The Chamber operates in a hybrid work environment that allows for a flexible schedule while requiring employees to work in-person at least two days per week. Exceptions to this schedule may be made based on departmental needs. When on-site, work is performed in a professional, deadline-driven office setting with regular interaction with Chamber colleagues, members, and investors.

This role involves extended periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and speaking on the phone. Chamber colleagues are sometimes required to attend Chamber-hosted or partner events and meetings outside of regular business hours and outside of Center City Philadelphia.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000 annually, plus the opportunity to earn additional performance-based incentives.

Application Instructions

Qualified candidates should submit a cover letter and resume. Applications that fail to fulfill this requirement will not be considered.
