Full Job Description
Job Description:

The MIG Gun Division (Bernard & Tregaskiss) of Miller Electric, an ITW Company, is seeking a Market Segment Manager to help identify and evaluate growth opportunities across the Automation, Manufacturing, ConFab, and Light Industries segments. In this role, you'll lead market exploration, competitive analysis, and strategic planning efforts to better understand customer needs, market dynamics, and emerging opportunities. Working closely with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Finance, Operations, Marketing, end users and other ITW Welding divisions, you'll provide insights that inform business decisions, support long-term planning, and help guide investments across our semi-automatic and robotic welding portfolio.

You'll join a creative and supportive team that values curiosity, strategic thinking, and collaboration. Ideally, you'll be located near Beecher or Chicago, IL, Appleton, WI, Windsor, Ontario, or a major airline hub to facilitate in-person collaboration with colleagues and customers. If you enjoy combining market insight, customer understanding, and strategic thinking to support business growth, we'd welcome the opportunity to talk with you.

How You Will Make an Impact

Explore / New Market Validation

You'll help identify and evaluate new growth opportunities by exploring emerging markets, adjacent applications, and unmet customer needs across the welding industry. Through customer interviews, site visits, market research, and competitive analysis, you'll develop a deeper understanding of market dynamics, customer challenges, and areas of opportunity. Working closely with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Division Leadership, you'll assess opportunities, build business cases, and provide recommendations that support strategic decision-making and future investment priorities.

Market Intelligence / Competitive Analysis / Segment Strategy

You'll lead efforts to gather and translate market intelligence into insights that support business planning and decision-making. By monitoring customer, competitor, industry, technology, and channel trends, you'll help the organization better understand market dynamics and emerging opportunities. Combining market research with sales, profitability, and channel performance data, you'll provide recommendations that inform segment strategies, product roadmaps, and long-term planning across the MIG Gun Division and ITW Welding.

ITW Toolbox / Growth Improvement Projects

Using ITW Toolbox principles, you'll contribute to cross-functional initiatives focused on improving pricing, market share, channel performance, and go-to-market effectiveness. You'll apply customer and market insights to identify areas for improvement, support process enhancements, and help establish best practices across the organization. By defining success measures, tracking results, and sharing learnings, you'll contribute to continuous improvement efforts that support the division's growth objectives.

What You'll Bring to the Team
  • You'll bring experience evaluating markets, identifying opportunities, and using data to support business decisions.
  • You are comfortable working with both qualitative and quantitative information and can translate complex findings into clear recommendations for a variety of audiences.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, effective communication skills, and the ability to build relationships across functions will help you succeed in this role.
  • You are organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities while working through ambiguity.
  • Most importantly, you approach challenges with curiosity, sound judgment, and a collaborative mindset, balancing the needs of the division with broader business objectives.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or a related field is required. MBA or equivalent master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in strategic marketing, market research, product management, business development or a related role, preferably in B2B markets.
  • Proven success in market validation, segment strategy or new-market entry.
  • Experience with primary research, market sizing, competitive analysis and business-case development.
  • Experience with industrial products, welding, automation or distribution channels is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% within the United States, Canada and internationally.
  • Desire and drive to advance and grow within the organization.
