Overview

As our Outside Sales Account Manager, you'll focus on growing GCG’s marine-grade wire and cable business by connecting customers with dependable solutions for power, communication, navigation, safety, and emergency systems.

You’ll manage and expand customer relationships, pursue new business opportunities, and provide solution-oriented support for marine applications where performance, durability, and reliability matter. This is a highly independent, field-based sales role for someone who enjoys building partnerships, solving customer challenges, and turning market opportunities into long-term business growth. on key customer accounts in a territory 

This position offers a remote work arrangement but does require approximately 60% travel to customer sites within a territory that includes Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas.  Accordingly, being located within this territory is a requirement. 

What you’ll do

Sales & Territory Development

  • Develop and execute account growth plans for assigned customers and prospects
  • Use the company’s sales process to expand existing business and acquire new accounts
  • Identify customer needs and develop solutions to address business challenges
  • Prepare and present proposals, pricing, and quotations to customers
  • Communicate customer, competitor, and market insights to business leadership

Technical Sales & Support

  • Lead technical discussions on product specifications and tailored solutions
  • Present tailored solutions and proposals based on unique customer needs

Cross-Functional & Vendor Collaboration

  • Work closely with our sourcing and operations teams to deliver solutions aligned with customer and business objectives
  • Engage with key strategic vendor partners to support growth within the marine and commercial ship-building verticals
  • Relay customer, market, and competitive intelligence to internal stakeholders for strategic planning

CRM & Pipeline Management

  • Maintain an active and accurate pipeline using Salesforce CRM
  • Provide regular account updates and territory reports to sales leadership

Customer Engagement & Industry Involvement

  • Represent GCG at trade shows, industry events, and client site visits
  • Foster trusted partnerships by acting as a technical advisor and solution provider
  • Maintain high responsiveness and customer service standards throughout the sales cycle

What you’ll bring

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related discipline; relevant experience considered in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of 5 years in technical outside sales with a strong preference for experience specifically in the pleasure boat and ship-building market
  • Proven experience engaging with engineers, technical buyers, and OEM project teams
  • Demonstrated success in territory development and consultative sales

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to communicate product specs clearly
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Highly organized with strong self-direction and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Salesforce CRM
  • Ability to travel 50–60% of the time (may be higher in the first year)
