Position Summary:The Manufacturing Section Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership for assigned manufacturing departments in a fast-paced operation. This role directly supervises hourly employees and is responsible for safe, compliant, efficient execution of established production schedules; department performance; employee development; and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will translate plant and business priorities into clear daily direction, coordinate staffing and work assignments, monitor key operational metrics, resolve barriers, and partner with Planning, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Human Resources to achieve department goals.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead daily operations for assigned manufacturing departments, ensuring execution of established production schedules, plant priorities, customer requirements, and business needs.
- Directly supervise, coach, train, develop, and hold accountable hourly manufacturing employees.
- Manage department performance against key metrics, including safety, quality, output, yield/selects, uptime, delivery, schedule adherence, labor utilization, scrap, and productivity.
- Monitor performance, identify gaps and risks, communicate results, and lead department-level corrective actions and recovery activities.
- Coordinate daily labor assignments, shift coverage, overtime, work sequencing, and workflow adjustments within established staffing and production plans.
- Maintain a safe, organized, compliant, and productive work environment; ensure adherence to plant policies, work instructions, quality requirements, safety standards, housekeeping expectations, and environmental procedures.
- Serve as area owner for assigned departments, supporting audit readiness, process discipline, visual management, 5S, Kaizen, and operational-risk-management activities.
- Lead or support safety investigations, incident follow-up, corrective actions, containment, and preventive actions.
- Drive continuous-improvement efforts that improve safety, quality, throughput, productivity, cost, material utilization, and employee effectiveness.
- Use production data, equipment trends, control charts, checklists, and employee feedback to troubleshoot issues and support sustainable solutions.
- Partner with Planning, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations to execute schedules and address material, equipment, staffing, capacity, and workflow constraints.
- Oversee time and attendance, overtime administration, production reporting, training records, and required departmental documentation.
- Ensure clear communication across shifts and departments regarding production status, equipment conditions, quality concerns, staffing needs, schedule changes, and open actions.
- Administer company policies, performance expectations, and disciplinary actions as needed.
Required Qualifications:- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three or more years of front-line or department-level leadership experience in a manufacturing, industrial, technical, or production environment; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, communicate performance, prioritize work, and drive corrective actions.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, coaching, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing, production, scheduling, or timekeeping systems.
- Ability to support a multi-shift environment, including off-hours support as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Business, Industrial Management, or a related field.
- Experience working with production schedules, staffing plans, workflow coordination, operational metrics, and capacity constraints.
- Experience directly supervising hourly employees, including coaching, attendance management, scheduling, training, and policy administration.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, DMAIC, Kaizen, 5S, or structured problem solving.
- Experience working closely with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Planning, Supply Chain, or equipment-intensive manufacturing operations.
- Experience leading safety, quality, productivity, or operational-improvement initiatives.
This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $88,942.00 - $122,295.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
