Manager, Venture Investing
About the team:
As a member of the Venture Investing team at Capital One Ventures you will support strategy, sourcing, investing, and monitoring for a portfolio of venture capital investments that accelerates Capital One’s strategic priorities. You will focus on our direct investment strategy while supporting initiatives across the Ventures team.
What you’ll do:
- Sourcing: Map and landscape companies and sectors to drive top-of-funnel outreach and relationship development that generates vetted new opportunities in target categories of technology.
- Investment Execution: Manage due diligence, financial analysis, and target evaluation for transaction opportunities, including preparation of investment memos, oversight of legal negotiations, and management of deal execution processes.
- Business Development: Collaborate with Capital One to identify and scope opportunities and sectors of interest, including development and presentation of investment theses and opportunities pertaining to specific strategic areas of technology relevant to Capital One.
- Portfolio Monitoring: Engage proactively in strategic planning and portfolio development, including leading periodic data collection, contributing to portfolio reporting and artifacts, developing commercial opportunities with portfolio companies, and supporting ad hoc analyses related to portfolio management and compliance.
- Cultural Operations: Provide mentorship and partnership to team members across the Ventures organization and serve as a cultural ambassador for the team and Capital One.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- At least 3 years of professional experience in finance, strategy or technology
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 4+ years of experience in venture capital, technology product management, private equity, investment banking, software engineering, AI, or technology strategy consulting
- Deep curiosity and enthusiasm for the startup tech landscape
- Demonstrated ability to source, evaluate and execute venture capital transactions
This role is designated as a hybrid position. You are expected to adhere to Capital One's hybrid policy regarding required on-site presence at your designated office location

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York, NY: $179,700 - $205,100 for Manager, Venture Investing
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
