Overview

Description

The Manager, Total Rewards is responsible for overseeing the implementation and administration of the organization's compensation and benefits programs. This role will ensure that total rewards strategies are competitive, equitable, and aligned with business objectives, while managing a team of rewards professionals to deliver effective programs.

Oversee Compensation Programs:
  1. Manage all compensation initiatives including job evaluation and grading, base pay management, merit and promotion cycles, and variable pay programs (annual incentives, bonuses, sales commissions, etc.)
  2. Regularly review and update salary bands and pay structures in line with market data; conduct or utilize compensation surveys to keep pay practices externally competitive and internally equitable

Oversee Benefits Programs:
  1. Lead the administration of employee benefits offerings, including health, life, and disability insurance, retirement plans (e.g., 401(k) or pension), paid time off, wellness programs, and other employee benefit initiatives
  2. Monitor benefits usage and trends, and makes recommendation to align with market practices
  3. Work closely with benefits vendors, brokers, and consultants to manage relationships and evaluate plan performance and compliance
  4. Ensure smooth operation of benefits enrollment, renewals, and employee education about benefit programs

Ensure Compliance and Best Practices:
  1. Ensure all compensation and benefit programs comply with relevant labor laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, ERISA, ACA, COBRA) and company policies
  2. Enforce policies and procedures that maintain fairness, pay equity, and transparency in total rewards administration
  3. Stay current on total rewards best practices and regulatory changes

Manager all or a portion of the Total Rewards Team:
  1. Manage a team of direct reports (such as compensation analysts, benefits specialists, or coordinators), providing direction, mentorship, and performance management
  2. Set clear goals and professional development plans for the team
  3. Additional Duties as Assigned

Travel: Less than 10% of the time may be required

Work Type: Hybrid employee - splits time between working remotely and working in the office

Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required
  • Experience in lieu of degree is acceptable
  • Approximately 5+ years of experience in Human Resources, with substantial focus on compensation and benefits

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficiency in compensation analytics and HRIS systems
  • Advanced MS Excel skills are required for data analysis and modeling (salary structures, incentive calculations, etc.)
  • Experience with HRIS/compensation management software (e.g., Workday, PeopleSoft, or other payroll/benefits systems) is important
  • The candidate should be comfortable working with large data sets, performing market benchmarking, and using tools or surveys
  • Knowledge and Compliance:
    • In-depth knowledge of compensation and benefits best practices and regulations is required
    • This includes familiarity with relevant laws and guidelines (such as FLSA for wage and hour, ERISA for benefits, ACA for healthcare, COBRA for continuation coverage, and other applicable federal/state laws)
  • The candidate should also understand market trends in total rewards (e.g., emerging benefits, shifting pay strategies) to ensure our programs remain modern and competitive
  • Analytical and Strategic Thinking:
    • Strong analytical skills and business acumen to interpret compensation and benefits data, perform cost analyses, and align programs with financial constraints and business strategy
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to present complex total rewards concepts and data in a clear, persuasive manner to employees, executives, and HR partner
    • Demonstrated capability to build relationships and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including HR business partners, Finance, Legal, and line managers is crucial
