About the Role

We are looking for a strong Engineering Manager to lead a high-impact team within PlayStation's Client Developer Experience (DevEx) team.

This role sits at the center of how developers build, test, and ship software across client and system software teams. You will lead the development of modern developer platforms and tools, including documentation systems, intelligent search, performance tooling, and AI powered experiences.

This role requires a balanced leader, someone who can grow and manage a high-performing team, while also maintaining strong technical depth to guide architecture, review designs, and support engineers at a code level when needed.

You will operate across frontend-heavy developer experiences (JS, React, React Native) as well as backend/platform systems, shaping solutions that are both technically sound and highly usable for developers.
What You'll Do
  • Lead, grow, and mentor a team of engineers, building a high-performing, ownership driven culture
  • Drive delivery of developer platforms and tools used across PlayStation
  • Provide technical leadership at both code and system design levels, especially for frontend and developer-facing systems
  • Guide the design and evolution of complex, scalable systems across frontend, backend, and platform layers
  • Partner with AI/ML, QE, System Software, and Product teams to align on priorities and execution
  • Influence cross-team technical decisions and ensure strong alignment across partner organizations
  • Balance short-term delivery with long-term platform strategy
  • Ensure high-quality developer experiences by focusing on usability, performance, and reliability
  • Identify gaps, remove blockers, and drive clarity in ambiguous problem spaces
What We're Looking For
  • 7-10 years of overall software engineering experience with 3-5+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
  • Strong technical background with hands-on understanding of frontend systems (JavaScript, React, React Native) and solid backend/platform fundamentals
  • Ability to operate at code-level depth when needed (design reviews, debugging, guiding engineers)
  • Proven experience designing and delivering complex, distributed systems
  • Track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams
  • Experience working on developer tools, internal platforms, or productivity systems
  • Strong ability to influence and align stakeholders across teams
  • Excellent communication skills across both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent
Nice to Have
  • Experience with Python or backend services supporting developer platforms
  • Experience with AI/ML-driven workflows or developer tooling
  • Background in performance profiling and or developer ecosystems
  • Experience in large-scale, multi-team environments

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
