Position OverviewAs the Production Manager you will be responsible for carrying out day to day activities in multiple areas including production, inventory management, and quality investigations. Responsible to meet production throughput, quality, and cost objectives while driving waste from the process. Manages and develops one or more team leads as well as other direct labor staff. Also the job responsibilities may require off shift or weekend support. In this role you will be challenged to manage our Ultrasound Production Lines and its related processes and staff to deliver products with the highest quality at the lowest cost, according to product specifications and compliance requirements. Your team will consist of Assemblers, Test Technicians and Material Handlers across 2 shifts, Key Performance Indicators include On-Time Shipments, Defect per unit, Cost Reductions, Team Productivity, Safety, and more.
Job DescriptionEssential Job Functions: - Responsible for managing multiple production areas in order to meet defined throughput, quality, and cost objectives
- Taking ownership of your product responsibilities and drive growth of customer value.
- Managing, selecting, developing, coaching, and evaluating personnel to ensure an effective team.
- Directing and coordinating the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production, quality, and cost objectives.
- Prioritizing production schedules based on new product introduction, equipment efficiency and materials availability to support on-time delivery of customer backlog
- Making budgetary recommendations regarding capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
- Developing schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas. Implement and drive Supply Chain business improvement initiatives
- Leading and coaching teams in a Continuous Improvement (Lean) culture.
- Acting as Primary Point of Contact for the product line and interface with other functions including Production Engineering, Supply Planning, Purchasing, Quality, Regulatory, and R&D.
- Troubleshoot product and process problems to root cause.
- Establish leadership pipeline within staff.
- Participate in quality improvement teams
Knowledge/Experience:
- BS degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience including coaching, motivating others and dealing with performance management issues.
- Experience managing diverse multifunctional organizations.
- Proven ability to align both direct labor and supervisory employees in pursuit of common objectives.
- Proven record of accountability to performance measures.
- Demonstrated experience in training, coaching, motivating, evaluating and managing team performance
- Must have general knowledge of Kanban processes, OEE (overall equipment effectiveness), 5S, and Kaizen rapid improvement teams. Applies lean techniques and principles to improve flow and reduce waste.
- Experience in managing labor and equipment constraints.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mathematics and basic statistics.
- Experience managing evening or weekend shifts a plus.
- Working knowledge or inventory control, warehousing and picking functions and/or Oracle ERP a plus.
- Working knowledge of production and change controls in a regulated environment: ISO/GMP/FAA etc.
Skills/Abilities:
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills including written skills necessary to complete various manufacturing documentation and reporting requirements.
- Thorough understanding of MS Excel, to apply statistics, create reports and labor models.
- Must effectively communicate and work with cross-functional teams across multiple shifts.
- Must have the ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast paced environment with changing priorities.
- Must be flexible to work various shift as required.
- Ability to lift 25lbs with or without accommodations.
Salary and Benefits:- $91,000/yr. - $118,000/yr. depending on experience + variable target bonus (Compensation will vary based on skills, experience and location; it is not typical to be hired at or above the top of the salary range).
