Full Job Description
Job Summary
Manager Buyer supporting DoD ammunition and defense production programs through procurement, supplier management, and technical oversight. Responsible for sourcing, negotiating favorable terms, volume discounts, and longterm contracts, and for preparing and processing requisitions and purchase orders for critical materials, goods, and services. Ensures compliant, onschedule delivery, mitigates supply chain risks, drives supplier performance, and maintains safety, quality, and contractual compliance. Impact of the Role

  • Supervises the daily activities of support staff or production team members. Does not typically perform the work supervised
  • Must have any type of one direct report or more
  • Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors
  • Problem solving is guided by policies and procedures; receives guidance and oversight from manager
  • Consistent exercise of discretion & judgment
Essential Functions
  • Manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing.
  • Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain.
  • Collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels.
  • Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands.
  • Oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations.
  • Leads and manages the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & General Managers.
      • Required Qualifications
      • Required education and experience: Associates Degree and 5-7 years experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
      • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Preferred education and experience: Bachelors Degree
      • Discipline/Major: Business or Supply Chain Management preferred.
      • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Leadership skills. Decision-making skills. Oral and written communication skills. Analytical thinking skills. Detail oriented. Ability to meet deadlines.
      Physical Requirements
      • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
      • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
