Full Job Description
Radiant is seeking an experienced Manager of Quality Control to lead dimensional inspection, in-process production inspection, and metrology operations across mechanical, structural, electrical, and power-generation hardware. This role will establish and maintain robust inspection systems that ensure hardware conforms to design intent, internal standards, and quality requirements from receiving through final assembly.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys building structured processes in a fast-paced hardware environment while maintaining high technical rigor.

Responsibilities

Incoming Inspection
  • Own dimensional and visual inspection of received parts, materials, and assemblies
  • Verify compliance to engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and purchase order requirements
  • Develop and maintain incoming inspection plans and documentation requirements
  • Coordinate with supply chain, quality, and engineering teams to resolve nonconformances and supplier discrepancies


In-Process & Production Inspection
  • Support production inspections and buy off critical manufacturing and assembly operations
  • Establish inspection checkpoints throughout fabrication, machining, welding, assembly, and integration processes
  • Support first article inspections and configuration verification for new hardware releases
  • Ensure traceability, documentation accuracy, and compliance with internal quality systems
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure inspection processes scale with production needs


Metrology & Calibration Management
  • Maintain and manage the metrology department, including CMMs, measurement equipment, gauges, and specialty tooling
  • Develop and oversee calibration programs for inspection tools and measurement systems
  • Ensure equipment accuracy, traceability, and compliance with internal standards
  • Maintain calibration records and equipment control systems
  • Evaluate and implement improved inspection technologies, measurement systems, and automation where appropriate


Team Leadership & Process Development
  • Lead and mentor inspection technicians and quality personnel
  • Establish standardized inspection procedures, documentation practices, and data management systems
  • Support root cause investigations related to dimensional, tolerance, and manufacturing discrepancies
  • Represent inspection and metrology in design reviews, build reviews, and production readiness reviews
  • Drive continuous improvement in inspection efficiency, quality metrics, and production throughput


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or related field, or equivalent industry experience
  • 7+ years of experience in dimensional inspection, metrology, or manufacturing quality within a precision hardware environment
  • Strong proficiency interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Experience operating and/or programming CMMs
  • Hands-on experience with precision measurement tools and inspection equipment
  • Experience developing and managing calibration systems and tooling control programs
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills


Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting complex mechanical assemblies, high-precision components, or regulated industries (energy, aerospace, defense, nuclear, or heavy industrial)
  • Experience transitioning hardware from development to production
  • Familiarity with ASME, ISO, or other relevant quality standards
  • Experience building inspection systems in a fast-paced startup or scaling manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring inspection teams


Additional Requirements
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to accomplish program objectives
  • Must work 100% onsite at Radiant's El Segundo headquarters
