Manager of Environmental CompliancePosition SummaryThe Environmental Compliance Manager is responsible for driving a best-in-class Environmental performance program across all manufacturing operations, with a primary emphasis on
environmental compliance, performance, and sustainability. This role partners with plant leadership, engineering, and operations to ensure environmentally responsible manufacturing processes while maintaining a safe and compliant workplace.
This leader will champion initiatives in emissions reduction, waste minimization, resource conservation, and regulatory compliance, while embedding environmental stewardship into daily operations and the Company's long-term strategy.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnvironmental Leadership (Core Focus)- Lead all environmental programs across manufacturing sites, including:
- Air emissions (Title V, VOC, GHG)
- Water usage, wastewater discharge, and stormwater compliance
- Hazardous and non-hazardous waste management
- Petroleum and Chemical management and storage
- RMP/PSM Programs
- EPCRA (emergency planning and community right to know act)
- Ensure full compliance with EPA, state, and local environmental regulations
- Own environmental permitting processes, renewals, and modifications, reporting
- Oversee timely reporting (e.g., TRI, Tier II, RCRA, SPCC, SWPPP, GHG and permitting
- Conduct and lead environmental audits, inspections, and agency interactions
- Develop and/or revise programs to reach and maintain companywide compliance
- Training and Outreach
- Lead environmental incident investigations (spills, releases, exceedances) and implement corrective actions
- Develop and monitor environmental KPIs (emissions, water intensity, waste generation/on time reporting, inspections, recordkeeping, etc.
- Responsible for environmental compliance programs and reports related to hazardous waste, air permitting, water pollution control, risk management plans, process safety management, and community right-to-know programs.
- Maintain all environmental compliance records.
Operational Integration- Collaborate with plant managers to balance production goals with environmental compliance and sustainability
- Support new product introductions and process changes with environmental impact assessments
- Identify, track and report to Corporate environmental initiatives that could impact existing or developing Genpak products and operations
Compliance & Governance- Maintain all environmental permits, licenses, and documentation
- Serve as primary contact for regulatory agencies
- Ensure compliance /audit readiness at all times
- Forecast regulatory changes and proactively adapt programs
QualificationsRequired- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
- Demonstrated ownership of environmental compliance programs in a plant setting
- Strong expertise in EPA regulations, permitting, and environmental reporting
- Experience supporting or leading multiple manufacturing sites in environmental compliance
- Ability to influence plant leadership and production teams
Preferred- Professional certifications (CHMM, CSP, CIH)
- Experience with ISO 14001 or other environmental management systems
- Background in highly-regulated industries (chemical, automotive, metals, food processing, etc.)

- Multi-site travel may be required, responsible for 6 plants and 1 distribution site
