Summary:
The Manager of Construction Services is responsible for overseeing construction projects across the healthcare system. Project scope is developed in collaboration with Clinical Areas, Space Planning, Real Estate Services and Facilities Engineering. The Manager of Construction Services will oversee project management from CD development through commissioning and turnover.
The Manager of Construction Services will oversee Baystate’s team of Project Managers and ensure projects are aligned with Baystate’s Master Facility Program. The Manager of Construction Services will be responsible for overseeing the RFP and contracting process as well as tracking and reporting on projects to ensure schedules and budgets are met and construction conforms to established standards.
Job Responsibilities:
1) Oversee multiple Projects and ensure alignment with Baystate’s Master Facility Program. Support Project Managers to keep projects on schedule, on budget and within scope.
2) Standardize vendor management administrative processes including medical clearance, safety training and facility access. Ensure design and construction processes comply with Environment of Care Standards. Oversee RFPs, bidding and contract administration for all projects.
3) Maintain and update building standards based on feedback from Facilities Engineering to ensure Baystate System construction standards reflect best product selection and installation techniques based on maintainability, durability and life cycle costs. Implement and oversee program to manage coordination between project managers, design team, contractors and shop supervisors during construction administration. Coordinating ICRAs, ILSMs, RFIs, submittals and handoff of equipment to operations via Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Manage the project team needs, goals, and requirements, including but not limited to procurement strategies, real estate requirements, budget, schedule, operational needs, and assignment of responsibility.
4) Manage and review the development of construction documents. Manage contract administration of all consultants and contractors and ensure compliance. Ensure architects', engineers' and consultants' progress are in accordance with the client's budget and schedule goals. Assist the project team in the resolution of field problems. Coordinate with Project Mangers to prepare executive summaries at key milestones.
5)Maintain a dashboard to track individual projects including who is working on what, scope, schedule and cost. Compile historic budgets and create metrics to measure and manage projects. Review status of projects with PMs and compile a monthly report summarizing project status, scope, schedule, cost and risks.
6) Oversee commissioning process, including review of punch list and coordinating the submittal of as-built drawings, operating manuals, guarantees, and warranties.
7) Coordinate with the Mgr. of Building Infrastructure and Construction, Mgr. Utilities and Life safety , Dir of Engineering and Shop Supervisors to conduct page turns of all Construction Documents to ensure maintainability and standards are considered, minimize change orders and ensure bid scope is clearly defined.
Required Work Experience:
1) 5 years working on construction sites in various capacities including managing subcontractors, material testing and quality controls, estimating, safety and risk management, contract administration and participation in owner design meetings.
Preferred Work Experience:
1) Knowledge of FGI's Guidelines for design and construction of Health CareFacilities and ASHE 170. Knowledge of The Joint Commission Environment of Care (EC) Standards. Familiarity with Newforma, BIM 360, Revitt, AutoCAD.

Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
