Visa is seeking a strategic, analytically minded leader to help shape the future of North America Marketing. As Manager, Marketing Strategy & Portfolio Planning, you will serve as a key thought partner to marketing leadership, helping define how marketing investments support Visa's long-term growth ambitions and 2030 Strategy.

This role sits at the intersection of strategy, planning, portfolio management, and business performance. You will maintain a holistic view of Visa's North America Marketing portfolio across Consumer, B2B, and Marketing Services, ensuring investments, initiatives, and resources are focused on the opportunities that drive the greatest business impact.

Success in this role requires the ability to connect strategy to execution, translate complex data into actionable recommendations, and influence decision-making across senior stakeholders. You will work closely with Marketing, Product, Strategy, and Analytics teams to identify growth opportunities, assess portfolio performance, prioritize investments, and drive greater organizational impact.

This position reports to the Senior Director of Strategy, Planning & Operations and is based in Visa's San Francisco office.

Key Responsibilities:

Portfolio Strategy & Business Planning:
  • Own and maintain a comprehensive view of Visa North America's Marketing portfolio, including strategic priorities, investment allocation, business objectives, and expected outcomes.
  • Partner with leadership to evaluate portfolio performance and identify opportunities to optimize investments, accelerate growth, and improve business impact.
  • Support annual and multi-year strategic planning efforts by providing data-driven perspectives on business priorities, market opportunities, and emerging trends.
  • Develop frameworks and approaches that help leadership prioritize resources and make informed investment decisions.


Strategic Analysis & Executive Decision Support:
  • Transform complex data from multiple sources into actionable insights and strategic recommendations for executive audiences.
  • Identify connections across Consumer, B2B, and Marketing Services initiatives, proactively highlighting risks, dependencies, and opportunities.
  • Structure and solve ambiguous business problems by evaluating alternatives, quantifying trade-offs, and recommending clear paths forward.
  • Create executive-ready presentations, business cases, and strategic narratives that enable informed decision-making.


Cross-Functional Strategy Leadership:
  • Partner closely with North America Product and Strategy teams to ensure marketing investments align with product roadmaps, business priorities, and market opportunities.
  • Serve as a strategic connector across Marketing, Analytics, Product, Finance, and regional teams to drive alignment and maximize portfolio effectiveness.
  • Lead special projects and strategic initiatives that require cross-functional collaboration and executive visibility.


Performance Measurement & Portfolio Optimization:
  • Monitor portfolio performance against strategic goals and key business outcomes.
  • Analyze trends, identify performance gaps, and recommend actions to enhance effectiveness and accelerate results.
  • Drive continuous improvement in measurement frameworks, reporting approaches, and strategic planning processes.


Innovation & Future Readiness:
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and emerging technologies to improve planning, decision-making, operational efficiency, and marketing effectiveness.
  • Pilot new approaches, develop business cases, and help scale innovative solutions across the organization.


Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD.
  • Experience leading strategic planning initiatives, business performance reviews, investment prioritization, or enterprise-level decision support
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate complex ideas in a clear, concise, and compelling manner.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect market trends, customer insights, financial metrics, and strategic priorities into actionable recommendations.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD.
  • 6+ years of experience in strategy, management consulting, corporate strategy, business operations, analytics, portfolio management, or a related strategic discipline.
  • Experience within payments, fintech, technology, financial services, or other fast-paced, highly matrixed organizations preferred.
  • Experience synthesizing large amounts of information into executive-level insights, strategic frameworks, and business cases.
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, solve complex business problems, and drive alignment across diverse stakeholders.
  • Marketing experience is welcome but not required. Candidates with backgrounds in strategy, planning, consulting, operations, or analytics are highly encouraged to apply.


Information for US Applicants
For roles located in the US, the estimated salary range for this position is $134,600.00 to $ 215,300.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.

This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
