Position Title: Manager, Major Gifts

Employment Type: Full-Time Staff | Non-Union

Annual Salary Range: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00

Location: 2180 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON

TVO is looking for a major gifts fundraiser to be responsible for driving revenue and growing our community of supporters. The incumbent will cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio donors and prospects, plan and execute donor acquisition initiatives, and lead one direct report. The Manager, Major Giving will collaborate closely with the Philanthropy team and colleagues across TVO to meet and exceed ambitious fundraising targets.

How you will make an impact

  • Develop and implement major gift fundraising strategies in collaboration with the Director, Philanthropy and other team members.
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 80-100 major gift donors and prospects, with responsibility for meeting annual revenue and activity targets.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift donors at the $5,000+ level.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified prospects through research, referrals, events, and engagement activities.
  • Develop compelling cases for support, proposals, donor correspondence, impact reports, and stewardship materials.
  • Build and manage relationships with internal stakeholders to identify funding opportunities and align donor interests with organizational priorities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to identify and cultivate legacy giving prospects, working with the Director, Philanthropy to steward donors interested in making a future gift to TVO.
  • Partner with senior leadership, volunteers, and colleagues across TVO to support donor cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications colleagues to develop donor engagement and stewardship initiatives.
  • Plan and execute donor cultivation, recognition, and stewardship events and experiences.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing management of TVO's donor recognition matrix, ensuring donors receive appropriate and meaningful stewardship and recognition.
  • Utilize prospect research, donor analytics, and fundraising data to inform strategy and optimize fundraising results.
  • Identify and assess situations that may affect TVO's ability to achieve its major gift revenue goals.
  • Ensure observance of fundraising best practices, donor stewardship standards, and ethical fundraising guidelines.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to analyze, recommend, and implement strategies to improve fundraising data management and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate donor records, forecasts, contact reports, and pipeline activity within Raiser's Edge and related systems.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision to reporting staff, ensuring overall work accuracy and quality.


What you will bring to TVO

  • 5+ years previous experience in fundraising, donor stewardship, and relationship management.
  • University undergraduate / post-secondary degree required; fundraising, communications, marketing, or related field would be an asset.
  • 3+ years managing a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects in the non-profit sector.
  • Demonstrated success securing and stewarding major gifts and multi-year philanthropic commitments.
  • Strong understanding of major gift fundraising, moves management, prospect research, and donor engagement strategies.
  • Knowledge of legacy giving and gift planning vehicles, and experience supporting legacy donors or estate gifts, would be considered an asset.
  • Thorough understanding of donor database management, reporting, and fundraising analytics.
  • Experience managing or working in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
  • Results-oriented, with a proven track record of delivering on goals and achieving revenue targets.
  • Exceptional relationship-building, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience developing proposal and donor correspondence.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams and departments.
