CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Manages laboratory teams responsible for performing tasks and procedures in accordance with organizational protocols. Communicates and disseminates general information, policy updates, and procedure changes to personnel.

2. Ensures that tasks are performed according to safety and compliance standards, including accurate verification of individuals' identification when required.

3. Ensures proper equipment is in place for operational procedures. Monitors equipment performance, diagnoses issues or malfunctions, and either makes repairs or initiates service requests.

4. Plans, prioritizes, and directs work activities to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

5. Investigates and resolves problems concerning patient testing and procedures.

6. Assists with interviewing and selecting new staff. Participates in the formal progressive disciplinary process. Conducts, monitors, and evaluates the effectiveness of employee performance improvement plans.

7. Participates in the design and implementation of new procedures and instrumentation.

8. Monitors quality control and assurance, proficiency testing, and implements corrective actions.

9. Coordinates and participates in continuing education activities and events.

10. Monitors employee compliance with approved regulatory and departmental guidelines.

11. Assists in developing the strategic goals and objectives for the section.

12. Develops, implements, and evaluates training programs.

13. Assists with the development of competency assessment tools.

14. Participates in the review, revision, and implementation of standard operating procedures.

15. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in relevant field
