Full Job Description
The Manager, Pharmacy RPh oversees the daily operations to ensure high-quality patient care is provided in compliance with regulations, hospital policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and best practices. This role is responsible for leading and managing pharmacy department staff, which includes oversight of daily workflows and managing staffing schedules, supporting process improvements and quality assurance initiatives, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to optimize medication management, and guiding professional development through training and mentorship programs.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee daily pharmacy operations and staff management across assigned areas, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, institutional policies, and SOPs
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to pharmacy staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations.
• Collaborate with clinical teams, operational teams, research teams, nursing leadership, and other healthcare professionals to optimize medication management, support patient safety initiatives, and implement new procedures or workflows.
• Develop and implement pharmacy-related content, such as policies, SOPs, protocols, guidelines, and order sets.
• Participate in departmental and institutional projects and committees affecting patient care, including technology implementations, process improvements, and compliance initiatives.
• Monitor key pharmacy metrics, manage budgets, and oversee resource allocation to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
• Develop short-term and long-term goals for Pharmacy in conjunction with leadership.
• Coordinate professional development programs, including continuing education and mentorship for pharmacy staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• In-depth knowledge of pharmacy practice, including medication management, oncology therapeutics, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide exceptional patient care.
• Proficiency with healthcare IT applications such as Epic (Beacon/Willow) and pharmacy information systems.
• Analytical and critical thinking skills to assess operational data, identify areas for improvement, and implement effective solutions.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work within time constraints and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in pharmacy from an accredited college or university required; Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited college or university preferred.

Minimum Experience:
5 years of pharmacy experience, including 3 years in a related practice and supervisory role required.

License/Certification/Registration:
Licensed to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Certification in a related pharmacy specialty or advanced degree/training in a specialty practice area preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises staff. Hires, develops, and manages staff to achieve organizational goals. Sets clear expectations, delivers feedback, and monitors performance for quality, efficiency, and compliance with policies and procedures. Mentors staff, fosters career growth, and cultivates a positive and productive work environment.

PATIENT CONTACT:
Yes, direct patient contact through clinical specialist practice and consultative services.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Routine exposure to chemotherapeutic agents, biologic agents, and potentially hazardous materials.
• May require lifting and carrying pharmaceuticals and supplies.
• Repetitive use of hands and fingers; sitting, walking, or standing for long periods.

The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate's relevant experience, skills and qualifications.

For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

$167,300.00 - $179,200.00
