Job Title: Manager, HR Business PartnerOffice Location: San Jose, CAWork Model: OnsiteJob Overview: SK hynix America is rapidly expanding its AI and advanced technology portfolio and is building several new Tech/AI organizations from the ground up. We are seeking a strategic HR Business Partner at the Manager level to serve as the people architecture lead for this initiative - owning the full journey from organizational design and leadership acquisition through to team stabilization and long-term talent growth.
This is a high-visibility, high-impact role for an HR leader with a builder's mindset. You will be embedded alongside our engineering and AI leadership teams, helping shape new organizations, drive cross-functional alignment between our U.S. and overseas offices, and build the HR infrastructure needed to support next-generation technology teams.
Key Focus Areas: - Org Build-Out: Design, launch, and stabilize new AI/Tech organizations - from defining org structure and headcount models to establishing team culture and operating rhythms.
- Leadership Acquisition: Lead executive search and senior-leader onboarding for newly created Tech/AI teams; partner with talent acquisition to develop pipelines for specialized AI and engineering talent.
- Org Stabilization: Guide newly formed teams through the stabilization phase: establish team norms, resolve early friction, and ensure leaders are set up for sustainable success.
- Cross-Border Alignment: Serve as the connective tissue between U.S. Tech/AI teams and HQ, driving alignment on people strategy, headcount planning, and organizational change.
Job Responsibilities: Organizational Design & New Team Launch- Design org structures for new AI/Tech teams in partnership with business and technology leaders, including role scoping, leveling frameworks, and reporting hierarchies.
- Lead workforce planning for newly formed organizations, translating business goals into headcount strategies and hiring roadmaps.
- Partner closely with Talent Acquisition to drive end-to-end recruiting for senior and specialized AI/engineering roles.
- Develop onboarding programs for incoming leaders and team members that accelerate integration and productivity.
Team Stabilization & People Partnership- Serve as the primary HR advisor to Tech/AI leaders, coaching on organizational effectiveness, people management, and team health.
- Identify and address early-stage team challenges - culture misalignment, communication gaps, or performance issues - with structured and data-driven approaches.
- Lead performance management cycles (goal setting, mid-year reviews, year-end calibrations) for supported client groups.
Cross-Functional & Global HR Partnership- Act as the bridge between U.S. Tech/AI teams and SK hynix's global HR and corporate functions, ensuring policy alignment and consistent employee experience.
- Drive company-wide HR programs - talent reviews, compensation planning, engagement surveys - within the AI/Tech organization.
- Consult with managers and employees on HR policies, employee relations, immigration, compensation, and organizational change.
Job Qualifications: Required- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years as an HRBP supporting engineering, AI, or technology organizations.
- Demonstrated experience building or significantly scaling new teams or organizations.
- Track record of partnering with engineering or technical leaders.
- Strong command of organizational design principles, workforce planning, and talent acquisition strategy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence at all levels including senior leadership.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and operate across global or matrixed organizations.
- Ability to travel 10-15% annually.
Preferred- Experience in the semiconductor, AI hardware, or deep-tech industries.
- SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, or HRCI-SPHR/PHR certification.
- Background in executive coaching, organizational development, or change management.
Compensation:Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $110,000 - $180,000. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
