Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the corporate financial planning and analysis function and collaborating with regional teams to provide insights for management reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the consolidation and analysis of annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and quarterly actual results. This includes collaborating with various stakeholders across the organization and preparing management reports and presentations.
- Review several types of financial analyses using key performance indicators specific to the renewable energy industry.
- Evaluate asset performance on a monthly basis and summarize these findings for management.
- Mentor, develop and support a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
- Explain complex accounting issues and their impact on financial results.
- Lead the integration of newly acquired or developed assets into the reporting framework.
- Develop and manage analytical tools and processes to improve the quality and transparency of financial results and forecasts and to facilitate ad hoc reporting.
- Proactively identify process inefficiencies and drive automation to elevate the speed and quality of budgeting and forecasting workstreams.
- Manage and contribute to improving financial reporting systems and propose automated solutions.
- Build deep, trust-based relationships with regional counterparts and communicate updates on new business activities and initiatives impacting financial results.
- Thoroughly understand and explain corporate departmental results and support team leads in managing their budgets.
- Provide support to the Senior Manager, FP&A in various activities and projects.
Knowledge and Experience Required- Recognized Canadian professional designation (CPA, CFA).
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressive work experience.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS.
- Team leadership experience; evidenced by fostering a high-performance culture and setting ambitious expectations.
- Motivated, driven, humble and enthusiastic individual.
- Willingness to learn and the ability to receive feedback.
- Experienced in comprehensive financial analysis and preparing management reports; skilled at interpreting data, extracting valuable insights, and communicating complex information clearly and concisely.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey and resolve issues in a clear and concise manner.
- Strong attention to detail; working in a conscientious, consistent, and thorough manner.
- Time management/priority setting; exercising conscious control over the amount of time spent on specific activities, to increase efficiency or productivity.
- Work confidently with large Excel spreadsheets, displaying attention to detail and file integrity while still being able to step back and analyze results.
- Proficient using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Nice to have: Knowledge and practical experience using OneStream or IFS.
Note: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield's identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively. We will reassess the approach on an as-needed basis.
