DescriptionNorthrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Global Supply Chain (GSC), Goods Movement & Logistics (GM&L) has an opening for aManager Engineering Packaging 2, to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be locatedonsite in Palmdale, CA, and will include management oversight of personnel in geographically separated locations in the United States.
This position will report to the GSC Aeronautics Systems Sector Logistics Packaging, Handling, Storage, & Transportability (PHS&T) Senior Manager and will be responsible for developing and maintaining innovative packaging solutions in support of all programs and sites across the sector, such as specialized containers, pallets, material handling devices, shipping fixtures, shadow boards, and parts protection devices. Job duties will encompass leadership in determining packaging specifications according to the nature of various products, cost limitations, quality & legal requirements, and the type of protection required, considering need for resistance to such external variables as moisture, corrosive chemicals, temperature variations, light heat, rough handling, and tampering. Packaging solutions will include documentation management and an understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee a team of engineers and other technical personnel consisting of exempt and non-exempt employees that design packaging & material handling solutions to ensure safe storage, movement, and transport of items to end destinations.
- Ensure project deadlines are met with consideration of Schedule, Quality, Delivery, Employee, and Cost parameters.
- Oversight of departmental Metrics & Key Performance Indicators to make informed business decisions.
- Lead individual contributors who are responsible for supporting all sites, programs, product line goals, and objectives through accurate reporting and problem-resolution methodologies.
- Conduct briefings and participate in program/homeroom meetings with internal and/or external representatives concerning material, manufacturing, programmatic risks, and constraints.
- Interface with manufacturing supervision and site leadership to support program/site needs and process improvements initiatives.
- Schedule equipment and personnel to manage customer demands for the production schedule, shop load, and inventory requirements.
- Advise senior management status of work in progress, equipment availability, and potential material issues to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed.
- Lead departmental root cause corrective action processes (RCCAs) as required.
- Ensure employees adhere to departmental and supporting function27s Principles and Operating Practices (PrOP).
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and succession planning to ensure leadership readiness within the organization, training and guiding employees to ensure alignment with Northrop Grumman Leadership Values and Behaviors.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor27s Degree with 5 years of related experience including, packaging engineering, manufacturing engineering, and/or supply chain; OR Master27s degree with 3 years of related experience including, packaging engineering, manufacturing engineering, and/or supply chain; OR high school diploma/equivalent with 9 years of related experience including, packaging engineering, manufacturing engineering, and/or supply chain
- Minimum of 2 years of experience leading a team, process, and/or projects.
- Experience working with suppliers and procurement
- Experience managing the implementation and delivery of engineering solutions in support of Government customers
- Current active U.S. Government Secret (or higher) level clearance
- Ability to obtain/maintain Program Special Access within a reasonable amount of time, as determined by the Company to meet its business need.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline.
- Experience working with suppliers and procurement to improve deliverable quality and optimize schedules.
- Experience in inventory management and control, configuration management, packaging principles, and movement of items through the supply chain infrastructure.
- In-depth knowledge/experience managing manufacturing operations
Primary Level Salary Range: $146,600.00 - $219,800.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate27s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
