Summary

The Manager, Electrical Design Engineering for Celestica Maple Grove Design Center, is responsible for leading and managing the work of developing new electrical systems and products for our customers. Our customers span five major industries, Aerospace & Defense, Health Tech, Capital Equipment, Industrial and Power Infrastructure. Our managers build excellent technical teams, enabling them to deliver for our internal and external customers. Our managers bring their past engineering expertise and highly developed communications kills to guide projects through technical and resource challenges. Our managers demonstrate extreme ownership by embracing issues and challenges and reducing roadblocks and barriers for their teams and the people around them. This position will regularly navigate internal systems and external customer relationships to enable the success of their team. They will provide development and growth opportunities for their direct reports so they can achieve their career goals. Our current electrical engineering team performs at a high level and we are looking for a leader that can build upon this performance and scale it up to deliver for current and future demand.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
  • Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects, involving multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling.
  • Provides technical leadership and direction to a sizable team of engineers. May be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas
  • Takes responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.).
  • Reviews and interprets customer requirements/specifications and may act as primary customer contract.
  • Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develops deployment strategies and plans.
  • Leads the deployment of strategic complex programs and coordinates site-wide deployment efforts.
  • May manage relationships with key vendors/partners.
  • Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs. E.g. creation of Schematics, Bills of material, diagrams, drawings, etc.
  • Testing, simulation and measuring (including troubleshooting) the performance of systems
  • Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations
  • Solve complex problems
  • Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.
  • Analyze and interpret data and information
  • Recommend modifications for systems
  • Create reports, minutes and updates
  • Set yearly plans and goals for the department, give direction on expected performance, provide regular performance evaluations and ongoing feedback. Accountable for all department objectives and achieving agreed targets for key performance indicators

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.

  • Occasional travel may be required.
